Tailgate Gas Struts

Bought a pair of gas struts from SGS engineering - hit my head once too often on the tail gate that now only rises to just above eye level?

£38 the pair with next day delivery, they are the equiv. of PowerfulUk’s (FL2) out of stock Stabilus Lift-O-Mat struts. (Stabilus Part no 9341XC). SGS list them as a Vauxhall Meriva part - part no SNL2348.

Bought a pair for our previous car from as said company, delivered in week to down under.

Should have replaced them earlier.

At least I know where to get replacements when needed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Struts delivered & fitted - the work of just a few minutes. Tailgate now opens fully without assistance but it takes a little more effort to close it now. Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Barolo Black

Had a couple of " new" noises over the last week or so. Wheel bearing type noise from the rear, turned out to be a frozen handbrake actuator. Both sides stripped and cleaned / freed off. Noise gone 😁
Awful rattle on tick over around serpentine belt area of engine. Removed serpentine belt, found alternator pulley to be siezed. No freewheeling clutch. No noise with belt removed. New parts on order. Happy days.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

Took it for the MOT, which it passed. There are some advisories for some corrosion, a softened rear bush and slightly more parking brake lever play than the MOT man would like. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.

I think my MOT man has just been on a refresher course, as he seemed very happy to get his metal prodding stick at any corrosion he found. He said he was just covering his ass but I wasn't convinced.
I've got some painting to do now, as his prodding has removed some of it. Big Cry

Good luck. Thumbs Up 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Have you joined Costco? or rather can you join them? about 20ppl cheaper. Common sense isn't very common.

Passed the MOT but testing was too much for one of the old rear CV boots and was beginning to spray out grease. Rear dif was leaking from the seal anyway so took the shaft out cleaned up, regreased and replaced both boots and the oil seal.

A few tutorials say to drain the dif when pulling the shaft but there is no need. There was no clip on the inner CV so it just fell out the socket leaving the other half stuck in the dif (gave up trying to pull and lever it out by hand, so attached mole grips to it with a ratchet strap tied back to the strut which worked well to my surprise).

My outer CV joint did not want to split even with one of those splitters, so tackled the inner which came off with a bit of heat and gentle use of a persuading tool. Also found that just disconnecting the drop link and the two lower arms gives enough space pull out the shaft. Both arm bolts were seized so what could have been half a days job got spread over a week waiting for replacement bolts/nuts.

Replaced the anti roll links and bar bushes while I was at it. Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Not a very nice day for me. Had to have my old black lab put down so a trip to the vets then drive across the field to bury him in the pheasant pen where all my other gundogs are buried. The house seems there's somthing missing . I like to think we both had good days out together so RIP 'Drake' enjoy that big pheasant shoot in the sky. 11 GS Bali Blue
