The 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 4323mm.

Or an old Defender 90 pickup at 3649mm, makes the Juke a joke at 4210mm! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Mondeo, Avensis, Passat, Peugeot 508/608 are all considerably longer than most SUVs from the same manufacturers for the same seating and load space, in a city it is unlikely the emmissions would be much different. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

When we were looking at buying our current car I did a spreadsheet of about a dozen cars in what Australia considers a small car.

At the time the only other car that was shorter was the Tiguan. By 70mm!

My sister bought an Evoque because she wanted a shorter SUV than the Freelander.

I have had quite a few people say over the years 'what a large car we have'. Then I tell them the dimensions & point out that cars X Y & Z are all longer, they are very surprised.

Further proof is parking, due to the Freelander short length we will generally find a parking spot.

Vehicles in Australia & people are complaining about the length of a Land Rover..... really!

The truck's bucket is missing & its 2 other rear wheels!

This is a little one with only 82 wheels.

Come on Lightwater - those are hardly vehicles that you would see in the city - I hope!! Very Happy

Why can some leaders of organisations not resist dragging those organisations into politics that are not relevant?
At this point all the RAC has done is alienate SUV owners, many of which in the UK pay their wages, the natural backlash (in my case) is to cancel Gills RAC membership and move to the AA - job for this afternoon.

Other examples was the RSPCA who tried to demonise dog owners for putting clothes on them - we had a miniature Yorkshire Terrier at the time - Gill was VERY unhappy - and they haven't got a single penny from her since.

Or the CO-OP bank in the UK who targeted clay pigeon shooting clubs by closing their accounts in an attempt to signal their disapproval of guns. Licensed gun owners, doing little harm by shooting at inanimate objects - why not target those enjoying firing arrows at targets? Obvious result, no-one opened new accounts based on the fact that the CO-OP disapproved of clay pigeon shooting, but some of us did close accounts with the CO-OP in response. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

And a couple more to add to the list. All have strayed widely from their core Charter aims. Easy to dump the first two, almost impossible the third. Censored Censored

The RSPB.

The National Trust

The BBC

There are many more too, I'm sure. I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

Don't get me started on the RSPB.

It's easy to see why my kids don't believe a word that the BBC (or ITV) say, they just don't watch the news - ever they "know" it's just propaganda from either the Government or those who would be in government, if they want information they get it from that ever reliable source - tinternet.

And therein lies the problem, who do you believe?
You can find justification for just about any action if you search hard enough - hence global warming rubbish Shocked Very Happy

Imagine the fun we have had, Gill's in the final stage of cancer, Censored all white blood cell count, so vaccination is of little use, and the eldest (39) refuses to be vaccinated because of things he has read on tinternet, oh and he lives at home.

Before anyone says he should leave home, Gill would literally rather die first. Her take is, in the end does it really matter if it's cancer, covid, sepsis, pneumonia? take each day and get the most out of it that time allows. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

The biggest sellers in Australia are utes about 22% of all cars sold, a bit of a million vehicles in total. Toyota Hilux & Ford Ranger account for about 90,000 a year.

The city streets are full of these 5 metre plus vehicles. I suppose the kids could be hosed down in the tub after school! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

They don't mention how many people in towns and cities buy SUV's to commute cross country,
but just assume they only drive half a mile to the shops or work every day.

So sick of weird beard greenies slating anything not made of tofu. Don't they get the longevity of most 4x4s actually cause less pollution over their service life than manufacturing several new cars that would otherwise be required? 🤔 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Short item on the news last night about digging up the sea beds to resource minerals etc needed to produce all the batteries that’ll be needed to run the electric vehicles we’ll all be driving.
Greenpeace up in arms whichever way we turn. Not sure what fuels their Rainbow Warrior??
