My pleasure, although I had better come clean and admit dondiddy gave me the information and lots of encouragement, so I believe he’s the co-author! MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

Hey all, bit late to the party here. I've just posted seperatly, obviously found the search button afterwards, I think this post perfectly describes my problem and I can also see how it is potentially going to save me some cash! My local garage wants £200 + parts to change that actuator.

My main concern in buying an ebay solenoid is what I have read here https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/l...tor-fault/

It seems to suggest a new one wont work as it is mapped to the turbo at the factory and I have been unable to corroborate that as fact or otherwise.

I can only talk about my own experiences but I have fitted an actuator from a Jaguar XJ to a Freelander 2 and it worked without any coding and the car drove perfectly afterwards. The fault codes cleared themselves after the car had done its start up self test. Parts numbers on the Jaguar part were the exact same as the Land Rover part which is in fact a Mitsubishi part!

I'm happy enough with the idea of sending mine off to Essex Recon if they are that helpful and that is almost a guaranteed solution to my woes. Failing that I might take a look at an XJ actuator and see how I get on with that.

All this is relative of course, assuming my turbo is still good. I mean the car has done just over 70k miles so likelyhood of turbo being dead I imagine must be pretty slim.

I seem to have this problem now at ~120 k miles, got the same four fault codes. Just an intermittant fault so far

Does anyone know if a new actuator can be coded to the existing turbo on the car or does the turbo have to come off and go on a test bench at a specialist for be coded to the actuator?

Thanks Very Happy

Hi......had this problem in the summer with my 75k 2014 sd4.
I did the research....called essex recons who confirmed the actuator was the most likely cause as they all fail.....as im local i removed my old actuator which is not difficult....and ran it down to their shop and exchanged it for a refurbed one.
I asked if it was coded and he said not........
I think it was £120......i had it fitted and all good same day
Hope this helps.
