2013 SatNav - Postcode function - DEAD

Hi all (reposting in this section!)

My first ever post.

My 2013 SatNav is faulty.

The unit is functioning. In part...
The unit can determine where it is, and can even perform functions like navigate to a POI eg a Petrol Station.
But the Postcode ‘button’ remains resolutely ’dimmed’ and is unselectable.

Also, on boot-up, the unit mostly thinks it’s in Belgium. When actually located in less-interesting Maidenhead (UK).
When that occurs, I can reset to the UK and the unit quickly recongnises it’s location.

I have tried cancelling previous journeys - indeed - it has no memory of any previous or saved locations now.

I have disconnected the battery for approx 20 mins. This didn’t present a fix.

What are my options?....

Should I try an ebay USB update stick?
Should I try an LR USB update stick?
Take it to LR?
Try to find a used unit? (Salvage and eBay) (anyone know the part number?)
Try a Jag equivalent used unit? (What would the part number be?)
Take it to an audio electrician specialist?

Thanks all,

Jon

Try the search function for the word "Belgium", or try reading here;

Mine came back from a main dealer service with postcode entry not working. It went in working perfectly.

It took me a while to discover the problem was that the thing was set on Belgium. I reset it to Uk and perfect ever since. Can’t remember how I reset it but it would have been with the on screen options and buttons.

Being a bit of a cynical main dealerphobe, my thought at the time was that it was done deliberately so I booked the car in to have the satnav fixed by them. What a silly notion eh...

A check of the LR079509 part number suggests it has been superseded by LR083311 and then LR087426

The base engineering number is CF6N-18C815-xx where xx is the revision version.

They are a common Ford/Volvo/Jaguar/LR unit by the looks of it.

I don't know if they need coding/configuring or if they are a straight swap but they are around £50-70 on eBay rather than £1700 new...

For example.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-Land-Rov...4600599464

Hi Martin

That’s very helpful thanks.

I’m not confident about removing the dash and replacing the unit.
I guess I need to chat to an LR audio specialist as a next step - if indeed there is such a thing!

Seems to be a known issue that LR are aware of, but needless to say will do nothing about rectifying for their owners. Check out the thread Vanny has highlighted
