It's actually not til May, checked the other week but here In Northern Ireland MOT's are backlogged because of defects in the test centre's ramps, they are issuing exemption certificates at the minute when your car is due, combined with the current crisis I cant see me getting it done any time soon. I will advise when it is finally done. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

So after looking at Collinite waxes for some time and reading the reviews Ive just ordered their 845 wax, after much deliberation about the 476s. It seems that the 845 is the easier to apply and remove.
Looking forward to trying this.
Hopefully Easter weekend will be dry and fine to let me get some onto the car, unfortunately no caravan getaway for the Easter weekend this year Crying or Very sad

Anyone care to comment on experience with Collinite?

Can't comment on the wax but I know it's well regarded in detailing circles , my go to sealant used to be either Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid or Finishkare Fk1000p , since I've been using Sonax BSD and now Turtlewax seal and shine spray sealant I've not applied a wax/sealant for maybe four or five years . I've recently bought a pot of Fusso coat sealant to try but found it a pita to remove but the water beading was impressive , it's now relegated to the back of the car cleaning cupboard Big Cry

Not at all, I just love cleaning my car and have plenty of time on my hands these days with not much else to do. As in other posts the Orkney grey doesnt really show off my efforts to best effect. I'll do my wife's black Tiguan and son's red Up! with it as a comparison. Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thumbs Up

Ignore me. I had a black Audi A4 some years ago and polished the backside off it.

I then discovered MUD !!!

So washed it today and waxed with the Collinite 845. I have to say its a lovely product to use and very easy to remove. It claims that it lasts 6 months but Id never be able to not polish and wax my car for 6 whole months! So Ive decided I will resist using any other product on the roof (apart from wash detergent) for a whole 6 months to test this out, so Ill let you know how it has lasted around 10th October!
Almost wishing for rain now to see how it flows off the freshly protected surface. Sad I know. Rolling with laughter

Mark - considered Fusso Softcoat for some time now, Ive heard mixed reviews about it.

I prefer the Turtlewax spray sealant to the Fusso , I've got a few pots of various waxes and sealants which I don't use now I've found the Turtlewax stuff , I've never seen a finish like it on either car . I've got a bottle of Turtlewax Hybrid ceramic polish to try with the rotary possibly over the next few days , I'll post up how I get on with it .

That's the stuff , there's some good videos on You Tube testing it's durability using some pretty aggressive chemicals . It outlasted some expensive rivals .

My dear old pop, claimed you should never polish your car in the sunshine. Polish dries too quick and is more difficult to get off.

Is that still true ?

Not so much with modern stuff its able to be used in direct sunlight. Some of the carnauba waxes I wouldn't want to as it dries pretty quickly and hard to remove. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

That is quite true, but reported to be a bit different with the new TW hybrid ceramic products, the launch was in the Arizona desert specifically to show that they can be used in the sun. I have bought the ceramic polish, spray and car wash but so far have not got around to a one stage polish on any of the cars. Been too busy doing the boat.

The sun is an issue for a lot of products. Because the TW ceramic is a light cut, I have been using some heavier G6 and Megs 105 to cut the boat back this week. The surface is so hot in the sun and there is so much oxidisation to cut through that the pad is clogging, requiring constant spritzing with water to keep the polish workable and a complete pad wash out every 2 sections (approx 2x2 feet each).

The orange (yes really) pad in the pic above has done 1 small section since a wash, and you can see the transfer of colour to it. Hard graft but incredibly satisfying to see the transformation take place.

That's some job on the boat with a Da , a rotary would be better but you'd end up with arms like Popeye Thumbs Up . I bet it's quite a transformation when completed.

Down to the marina, now there's an essential trip I'd like to be able to make in the present climate (that's medical rather than weather) Wink
