well if I said I should of gone to specsavers it would be about right. After laping in the valves and replacing the stem seals I started to put in the lifters and rockers. I had wrapped them up individually and numbered them. On installing the rockers noted that 14 out of the 16 were fractured . The ones on the inlet side worse than the exhaust. Ordered 14 new rockers.

Well as a OAP still got my teeth but my brain is fading.

It sounds odd but Im glad you have found something broken to possibly explain the situation.. On the road to recovery at last, one hopes.

You probably already know this but replace the main head bolts when you put it back together, they are use once stretch types.

Thanks to all
now have it running, it was a Censored to bleed the injectors but in the end all worked out ok. Will drive it around for a couple of weeks before I correct things like door locking, radio, and other
