Corroded brake pipe

Just noticed some bubbling under the plastic on the rear offside brake pipe, and white corrosion. Quite tricky to feed in a new pipe all the way, so I am going to add in a joint and use Kunifer for the new section. My question is, what material are the original pipes made of, and when I come to flare the original pipe, I will have to remove a section of the plastic, leaving the bare pipe exposed. Anyone done this, and how easy was the original fitted pipe to flare?

Shouldn't be too difficult to flare the existing pipe. Cut back to a painted part of the pipe and you should be fine. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Getting the plastic coating off without cutting into the pipe is a sod to do

Is it bad enough to need replaced?

So after trying to get the coating off without damaging the pipe I eventually bit the bullet and changed the whole pipe back to the diff joint. Not sure I like this plastic coated pipe, it hides the corrosion and is a real pain to try and flare!
