Early days, but screens seem good, second large sat nav map replaces rev counter
google play seems ok, but cant see much use for it unless LR sat nav is hopeless
Free maps for 3 years, download onto a usb on home pc then transfer to car 24gb

Personlised keys to retain own seat position, climate, radio and other settings, or phone triggers the memory, useful if wife keeps borrowing my key.
The system learns your preferences so should learn for example that you use heated steerimg on cold days

Dual purpose dials are fine for me as I use auto fan all the time At work

my loaner Evoque had the sat nav on the dash, i configured it so i had the rev counter central with the digital speed readout in the centre of that, i put the Nav on the right side and the mpg/range etc on the left...worked for me and i liked having that option fitted.
BUT, i found with the 3 optional screens too much was duplicated and was IMO was just too much to go wrong and too confusing.

the loaner DS, didnt have the configurable LCD dash dials, but i much prefered it overall and found the central dash controls ok to use if a little over complicated... i can see some people really struggling to get their head round where everything is.

if i had to choose between the 2 cars i would choose the DS Whistle

Last DS had touchscreen for heated seats. New one you press and turn cabin temperature dial, so can do it without looking.
Touch sceens are ok for occasional use, not for regular tasks At work

You couldn't write this one

Placed an order for a new to me DS, pick it up the day we return from our "summer" holiday 18th November.
You have to remember the DS has been as reliable as our (loved by me) FL2. In 47k miles the only issues we had were strait after the 20k service and software update - 4 LR assist callouts to adblue, finally fixed with another software update. Oh and at the 42k service they diagnosed a slight rattle as DPF heat shield - so replaced the DPF under warranty.

It's been 32C in Jamaica for 2 weeks, we land at Manchester and it's 4C. Car starts, heated seats on, but the blower doesn't work. 2 hour drive home in the freezing cold in shorts, Tee shirt and sandals. Checked fuses, stopped and locked the car twice. Gill was like a block of ice by the time she got home - get rid of the car before it starts to cost a fortune Very Happy

On the drive to the dealership in Bradford, the car was perfect again!

Happy new car 2018 HSE lux 240Bhp in RED - no more boring grey. Lots more toys, another two year warranty and LR assist and only £20 per month more (OK for an extra 2 years) - really didn't want an "Mild hybrid".

Some ones going to get a nice S.hand DS that has had oil and filters changed every 10k, new discs and pads front and rear less than 1k ago. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

We once had exactly this problem on a 2010 FL2. Car had been left for a couple of weeks in December, got in and heater and blower not working. Next day everything came back to life and all ok thereafter. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Happens on the DS the vent fan jams after being parked for periods of time, lift the scuttle plate and poke the fan squirrel cage with a stick, it should then spin again, very easy fix
I had a strange rattle on mine, so I lifted scuttle and removed a hefty crispy dried leaf from the fan.

Ive known similar fan jams on tractors, only on those you have to remove the seat to access the fan, often its carbon dust build up around the motor brushes At work

The fix seemed to be
Turn off and lock for an hour - not sure if strictly necessary as the fan still didn't work.
Hit the Min button - the one that gives maximum cold air, fan started at max.
Hit the max Button - the one that gives maximum hot air.
Hit the auto button and set the temperature.

I suspect that the fan had jammed, and that operating the fan normally even when asking for full fan actually ramps up the fan, this couldn't free off the fan. but hitting the Min button gives the motor a kick.
We had tried the max button several times in the two hours that we were freezing, but to no avail.

Really do like the 240 engine, seems a lot quieter, not so sure about tread plates that light up, seems too Range Roverish, a lot of the electrical stuff seems a bit too Range Roverish, but the sound system with a CD/DVD slot is a nice retro touch. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Had to do this many times on my DS. It didn't fix it though as the fault always came back another day. Glad to be shot of the DS

Anyone tried the facelifted DS? Reports seem to much more positive than the original build.

had one on loan for a week last October, with 7 miles on the clock and was very impressed.
It was a D180 SE Tech IIRC so basic but not threadbare. The centre console was much much better that the pre facelift and the seats seemed a bit more comfortable. I would definitely consider one but as Andy131 has advised the D240 is the better engine choice so that would be my preference.

Its way more than a facelift had mine for 8000 miles now , petrol 250

quality does seem better, but I was maybe the lucky one with first as it had no real issues

biggest bug is it reverts to the first song on usb stick when you get in (I had to delete will young from the stick as Im not listening to that Censored everytime I get in) , but its just done an online software update which maybe cured this At work

21 to 29 mpg is reported on the journeys on app

29 was an 18mile trip

Edit, thats ignoring the really short journeys from cold, were 20 mpg is never achieved

Petrol is atleast 5% cheaper at the pumps, and no adblu expense, although i doibt i spent more than £50 on adblu in last car At work
