courtesy car..... bit of a story behind it.

put my new to me D4 into LR dealer to have major service and cambelts done (prices were comparable to indy and more convenient)

they gave me a late runout 19 plate 'old' style Evoque - nothing new there
picked my D4 up after 2 day in the dealer, and 2 days later had to have it recovered back to them due to a very noisy rattly engine coming from the front belts area.

the dealer rapidly sorted out a nearly new Evoque, with all the touch screens (nice but too much duplicated/triplicated tech and ways to view it) (£445 road tax for it as well !! Shocked )
after 6 days (including the weekend so no work done) i got a call to say they needed the Evoque back as it was sold
they gave me the DS instead for the last 3 days of them fixing mine. (£140 tax for the same engine as the Evoque!! )

end result is my D4 is now sorted and sweet as a nut (cam tensioner bolt had sheared so belt was close to slipping off toasting the engine!) and they also changed flexi brake pipes, rear brake pads, brake fluid for £70 all in. Thumbs Up

Haven't looked at the new DS but the new Evoque D180 I acquired recently is a massive improvement on the old one. It's telling me it wants an oil change at 12000 miles (not bad as it's an ex-demo) but I'll do it anyway at 12 months, whichever comes first. People keep coming up and saying how nice it looks, what's it like, etc. Tbh, it drives much like the old DS, but a lot livelier.
It does have a couple of rattles that need fixing though. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

my DS petrol is due in at the dealers any day now, existing one is on 33000miles and still sweet, no problems bar a couple of extra oil services - free of charge. original brakes and tyres stil on

Interestingly I had some workers here last week with a mitsu pickup, it wouldnt rev properly and other snags, So one of the guys took it back to dealer.
They dropped 2 litres of 'extra' oil out of the sump, reset some codes and sent him on his way, they said it was better behaved than the other mitsu pickup they run, as that was in for a new engine Neutral At work

Why does a petrol DS need extra oil services? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

new sport arrived, looks much the same but its quite a lot different in reality.

much quieter and smoother, but then its a petrol not a diesel.

chassis seems stiffer on the road

Would be interested to know what "real" mpg you get. Read in Parkers review on their test car, 250hp model, and it was in the high teens Shocked MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

YEs, I'd be interested to find that out also, presently our i6 gives about 29-30 on a long motorway run but around town in short bursts about 18mpg, not worried at all as its just our "stand by" car but have been eyeing up the DS petrols recently. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

the Fl2 I have is returning 5.8 litres per 100 klms at the moment. The warmer weather will see that drop a little. I will need to ditch my Freelander 2 (My11 2.2 Diesel manual) shortly as its getting on. Planning on DS and hoping I won't be disappointing.

The petrol engine in the Freelander is nice. Stop start in city traffic it is thirsty but well worth the extra fuel.

Highway with 500 kg 9.5 L/100 no head or tail wind. Corrugated dirt/gravel road 13 L/100. Where I live with more stopping than moving usually 15 L/100 can get up to 20. Average city speed is 32 kph.

I mostly use RON98 as it gives longer range & is better than the other rubbish we get here. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

@George

how do you like all the touch screen and dual purpose dials in the new DS ?

i found the new DS touch controls etc were a lot better than the new Evoque touch screens. But after just a day all the Evoque screens were covered in my finger prints Shocked
