United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Santorini Black

Landy19840, Did you never undo your pen at school, just to see what was inside?

Some things I won't touch, but when things are simple , like this, I don't mind having a play. I cleaned the EGR valve and MAF sensor on my Jag a few times to keep it running smooth.

I'm a tinkerer, I admit it. Thumbs Up Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

I live by the phrase 'if it aint broke, I haven't screwed with it enough!'

It can make for some trying times when you here the GF shout 'Dave, the TV won't work' or 'Dave, why can't I get on the internet' or 'Dave, you need to put the car back together so I can go shopping'. Razz 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Does anybody have the actual part number for the Denso MAP sensor on the FL2?

Rover Ron is trying to do some magic for me, but he does not recognise the Denso MAP! Big Cry

Many Thanks EYorkshire Razz

Is the parts list available for downlaod?

Ron has a problem in that he expected a Bosch MAP, the Denso took him by surprise. I am still waiting to see if he can fix me up.

Thumbs Up

Hello to all,
today after cleaning the map sensor in order to position the screw to fix the sensor, it fell from my hands and I couldn't find it anymore Banging Head Big Cry .
Now I have the map sensor fixed without a screw.
Does anyone know the Land Rover code to buy a new screw that is Torx type? The torx screw you can see in the photo that I have attached;

I thank you in advance.

John

The part number for that screw might be VYP500080.

See:

But if I do a search for that partnumber it is not listed as a torx screw but, it has a hex head.

Good morning,

I saw the screw on Britcar, actually it is a hexagonal screw and not a torx, on my Freelander 2 they are almost all torx, how is it possible that they are not found as spare parts?

Whilst we are talking MAP sensorS last time I tried to fit a EGR blank my Freelander ran like a donkey. (11MY) But interestingly the MAP was reading a vacuum I was thinking of trying this again and drilling a hole in the throttle valve butterfly has anyone tried this ? Steve

Debating whether or not to replace my MAP sensor. Whilst the "pcha" "pcha" hicoughy noise was being investigated it was found to be the result of sudden pressure back through the air intake. The noise is the result of that pressure being released out the inlet pipe.

All sensors reported normal - but, when the MAP sensor was disconnected the problem went away.

So, after paying out for a new throttle body and still not fixed I'm wondering if in fact the MAP sensor is just reporting wrong info. Not an error state but just a mistake. Again it comes back to being temperature related and I understand the MAP does measure inlet air temp - along with the IAT sensor if I'm reading correctly.

When I start up from hot ( ether if parked in the sun on a very hot day or if parked after a run and just left long enough to heat soak the engine ) the engine runs rough for about 2 mins. This is no problem once you are under way but is a pain in traffic.
I have got used to this and can drive with out passengers noticing if I feather the throttle. The rest of the time the engine runs great. (this is 10 times worst if I blank the EGR ) I have for some time suspected the throttle valve is closing to encourage air flow through the EGR and starving the engine of air. Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone ?
Steve

First hot day problem back again ( this is only during initial pick up ) when this happens the MAP will record a vacuum. Is any one out there about to throw away a broken throttle body. I would like to try drilling a hole in the butterfly so a spare butterfly would be handy if this fails to work. regards Steve
