This might be the MAP sensor????? looking at "alex_pescaru" diagram this is the MAP sensor.

Righto. I have been out & cleaned mine.
1- pull up red clip on connector.
2- press center of electrical connector to release catch.
3- remove electrical connector.
4- unscrew 2x TORX screws holding MAF sensor to air intake tubing.
5- squirt solvent cleaner onto small electrical items & wires inside MAF sensor
6- allow to dry.
7- replace sensor.
8- replace screws, not too tight it's only into plastic.
9- replace electrical connector.
10- slide red catch down on connector.
Hey presto, instant 50bhp & 20mpg improvement! (not really, but the car does feel slightly livlier & smoother)

The third pic shows the small electrical 'gubbins' that you squirt the solvent cleaner onto.
DO NOT use WD40 or similar as dirt/dust will stick to it, and this defeats the object of cleaning it.

It took me 10 minutes including photo's. My car has 33k miles on it & the sensor did look a bit dirty inside before I cleaned it.

did you clean the MAP sensor also? if so was it gunged up like the ones on Disco3 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No, not yet. I was a bit short on time as I had to go out for a couple of hours. I'll have a look at that tomorrow, though & report back. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Be EXTREMELY careful cleaning MAF sensors as they are fragile, this isn't what the DISCO3 thread was about or what Nick started this thread for.

Spraying lots of the brake cleaner stuff seemed to be enough. The stuff that came out as I was spraying was a bit dirty. I held it over an old white plastic tray to collect the run-off.
I'd just be careful with a cotton bud and like I said before, fluff the end up first so it isn't quite so hard.
The Jag one was a bit more open than the Freel, so I didnt want to go poking around too much.

Martin. You're right. The original topic was about MAP sensors. I seem to have taken later posts and gone a bit off topic. Apologies.
I agree about MAF sensors being fragile, thats why i urged caution if cleaning it.

I've been out and cleaned my MAP sensor today. It wasn't particularly dirty and my car has 33k miles on the clock. It's a dead simple job, 5-10 minutes, unless you drop the screw whilst replacing it , mine fell into the radiator fan shroud. It took a little while to find it, but I now have a very clean engine undertray

1- move radiator hose so it is underneath its bracket (gives better clearance for your hands).
2- undo single TORX screw.
3- pull out MAP sensor (may require slight 'twisting' action)
4- undo electrical connector.
5- clean sensor tip.
6- apply small amount of rubber grease to 'O' ring.
7- replace MAP sensor
8- replace TORX screw, DON'T DROP IT!
9- reconnect electrical connector
10- replace radiator hose in its bracket
Job done & brew time.

I haven’t noticed any difference in running, although as can be seen in the photo's, my sensor wasn't particularly dirty.

I gave it a squirt of brake cleaner up into the sensor tip and wiped the outside with a rag. I was mindful of the solvent brake cleaner on the 'O' ring. You could just wipe around it with a rag. I didn't poke anything into the tip because I couldn't see into it, and didn't want to damage anything. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
