Hi All,

So last weekend I installed my dash-cam and hardwired it in! Lovely-Jubbly! However when reconnecting the hydraulic dampener for the glove box the clip connecting it to the body of the car broke off!n

I am at a total loss where to find this part as it has snapped in half, gluing it back together has not worked due to the pressure the clip is put under by the hydraulic arm.

The dampener itself seems to be intact, it is simply the clip that has broken! Pictures to follow.

I have really searched and cannot find a post anywhere regarding this issue, some have noted the dampener breaking but not the clip to the body.

If anyone has encountered this or knows the part number please give me a shout.

Can you identify which part it is and I can tell you the number?

I had this happen a couple of Freelanders ago and part of the plastic clip broke off, I can't find a picture of what I did but I fixed it using a cable tie and since the part is hidden it doesn't matter what it looks like. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Don't waste your money on a new one. The cable tie trick is the solution.

Drill a small hole through the pin/shaft part at the top of the damper, where it goes through the flange section on the glovebox. Feed a small cable tie through the hole and zip it.

This will stop the pin/shaft from pulling out.

You can clearly see the broken clip above. I have now also noticed that the clip for the dampener is indeed also broken at the top so I will try the cable tie trick and let you know on that one, the funny thing is I didn't even apply that much force to the glove-box.

Rich P - as above unfortunately I don't think the part is listed unless it comes with the dampener itself (Part <404C26 on the diagram).

Any suggestions for this would be great!

I broke mine a while ago only cost a few £ for a new one, I think it was less that £2 but not sure now.
It's called the glove box door damper.

Can someone give me the part No. of the hydraulic strut that helps support the Glove box as I accidentally broke it when trying to make a connection to the glove-box fuse holder, which I'm glad to say worked.
