In my copy of Topix (Halfshaft spec section) it says the torque for the hub nuts is 395nm but in the halfshaft remove and replace procedure it says 330nm plus 30 degrees. Which do I follow and why is Topix quoting different figures?

Ive not looked in this specific case but sometimes manufacturers state different methods and procedures depending on the situation, if youre fitting brand new bearings say they might need to be preloaded initially hence the plus 30 degrees etc, then if your just refitting it without renewing the bearings you just tighten it up to a set torque and thats it.
Might be something to do with that?? Just a thought.

i'm planning on this as well, can you give me any tips please as you do it?

My first tip would be not to do it unless you have a hydraulic bearing press with a range of suitable sized drifts. Whacking the bearings in and out with a hammer is a no no. Also, knocking the halfshaft through with a hammer is not on, you need a puller. Other than that it is reasonable straightforward but remember not to torque up the suspension bolts/nuts until the vehicle weight is all on the suspension. Handle the new bearing with great care - the matt black side is the magnetic side that sends the wheel speed signal the the ECU. It needs to be fitted with the magnetic side to the inside of the hub. You also need a big torque wrench and a dial gauge.

As you have to strip the disc/handbrake mechanism it is a good time to check and renew as necessary. John
