I've heard similar things about BMW dealerships, a guy I know bought a brand new X5 last year and ordered some AT tyres and a second set of wheels for them to be fitted tobefore delivery.

They didn't have any (tyres and wheels..) in stock and said it would be a 6 month wait! He promptly got it well and truly stuck in a field on a local shoot much to the amusement of everyone around him.

Apparently its the X5s and 5 series that have the worst availability. The 3 series seems OK, unless you need a full engine - I know of 3 waiting those with no due dates yet Wink

If a BMW X3 was fitted with summer tyres rather than all season M+S tyres, my Fiesta on its winter tyres would get further in snow. Very much a premium 4x4 with the driver in mind I think.

What do you have to back that up? It has 4wd and traction control as well as far better ground clearance! Rolling Eyes

My X5 is on 385 tyres - when the snow comes I wouldn't even trust them to get it off the driveway! I tried ONCE - never again! My wife has a 2008 Mini Cooper too which is AWESOME in snow - no 4x4, but skinny tyres.

a quick play with bmw's car configuration tool came out at over 46k - for bacically a glorified HSE with no heated screen

When I was getting leasing prices in Sept 2013 an almost fully loaded X3 came out £100 a month cheaper than a FL2 Dynamic, no brainer really. I got a discount of about £4K on the X3, LR wouldn't offer a penny off the FL2! X3 is much better equipped than a HSE albeit no heating windscreen and i can live without that.

Also X3 has a much better residual value

Just Changed

try a Subaru Forester XT diesel auto - got mine last Friday and very very pleased with it, it was a wrench to move on from my FL2 (two for the last 8 years) and finding that it is now being very difficult to move it on.

The Subaru is very impressive and competitively priced (cheap) compared to the DS and has 5 seats and a spare wheel. Tony

yes, I was considering an ex demo HSE - but there is limited color choice.
Now pricing up a new HSE in Phoenix Orange with roof rails, tow bar, privacy glass, heated steering wheel, and meridian system with TV - plus Off road Nav - If I can find a dealer that even knows what that is now.

do you know if the DS has magnaride suspension and active driveline?, the web has conflicting information here

That's the same questions being asked over on the Disco sport forum. No one is 100% sure. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

oh dear

Autoexpress seem to think Magna ride is not available on the DS

"....That said, it’s a shame that the Evoque’s excellent MagneRide adaptive dampers aren’t currently available, even as an option."

The brochure only lists Efficient driveline which is a fancy name for the tried and tested Fl2 system. I think it's only available on petrol cars. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
