TBH we don't know the story. James May (not one to defend the indefensible) called it a fuss about nothing. I can imagine Clarkson (who by all accounts works Censored hard) being annoyed that something wasn't up to scratch but if, as it seems, it was a tiff between two grown men, then GROW UP and shake hands. ...

Well, May and Hammond will of course back their meal ticket. It looks like he thumped the bloke because he got his sandwich order wrong at lunch time. What a Diva. Whistle If that turns out to be true and he loses out financially because of that, serves him right, the greedy fat Censored ! Laughing

as the news emerges today, that he hit a producer for not getting him his food quickly enough, it also shows that this has nothing to do with how PC the BBC are, its to do with JC his ego and the fact he hit someone over something so trivial as food, i could understand him hitting him, if he had insulted his wife or similar, but over food its OTT

if someone hit someone at your place of work (unless your a boxer), i think you'll agree they would be disciplined asap, nothing different here JC should go Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Physical assault on a work colleague in the workplace is surely gross misconduct, isn't it? Instant dismissal. Then again, working for the Beeb, if he had been a minor or a member of the audience and he had just sexually assaulted him he'd probably be ok. Whistle ....

As FURTHER news emerges in the Sky News report at 4pm, it is blatantly apparent that what has been reported was not quite as some have perceived it. However, what has become clear is that Danny Cohen has an agenda and is determined to get him out, and make a nice name for himself. The fact that this happened over a week ago and Cohen has only just decided that he needs to take action probably tells you all that you need to know. That, coupled with the fact that JC's contract is up at the end of this month would further indicate that he had already told Cohen to shove it up his 'arris!

No doubt more will reveal itself over the coming days. Anyone who thinks that the Beeb are an impartial, non-PC broadcaster these days needs their head reading as well! Foraging near Gaydon....

I have to say that yes, he does make some un-PC remarks, but I bet that is no more than all of us have done at some time or another, I still remember Alf Garnet.

My main beef is if the beeb have an issue with JC, and if he did punch someone, then there are better ways to deal with it than making public statements, cancelling the rest of the series etc.

Clarkson may well offend some, but there is no denying he really does make a good entertaining programme which is popular around the world.

I agree he should face disciplinary action if he has overstepped the mark, but the beeb really should show the rest of the series and not penalise everyone who does enjoy the show.

Just looked at the petition and it is around 45000 mark, so there are a lot of people who support him.

Since the beeb decided to suspend him, lets hope they conduct their investigation speedily and settle the matter as a matter of some urgency so we can watch TG again

'IF' he did punch his boss, then why did it take over a week for action to be taken?

If anyone else had punched their boss, then their feet wouldn't have touched the ground and they'd have been out same-day.

Perhaps as has been suggested, Cohen has been plotting and scheming, and seen this as a golden opportunity to show him 'how powerful and important' he is, albeit a week late with his decision IF the allegation is indeed true. (Which I don't believe that it is. More a professional witchunt, and there's plenty of those going on in the UK at the minute.) Foraging near Gaydon....

Probably best to wait for the media to stop making up the stories and for the truth to come out.

There are strong rumours that the show will go on and that Jeremy Clarkson will be replaced by Ozzie Osbourne.
The programme will still be called 'Top Gear'. Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Only just noticed that the programme tonight is an insight into the Red Arrows.
Might just watch it. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
