NO hot air

Censored

I need the forum's help.... Bow down

I have hot air blowing from the right side and only cold from the left side (independent of left temp position)

This is associated with an incessant vrrr vrrr sound from the stepper motor (like its slightly adjusting the heater flaps all the time)
If i switch off the climate system, the vrrr vrrr also stops.

1) LR looked at errors (none reported)
2) they re-loaded the latest software (last year was the first update i did - hasn't changed since 2013)
3) today they reset the system.. it worked (got hot air from LHS as eel)l... but stopped working this evening again the only hot air is from the right vent
4) when i put the heat on full... the heat goes up slightly.. only to return to cold (and the stepper motor keeps on vrrr vrrr)

Its over a year that the stepper motor makes a noise.. now even the heat is gone.. and LR solution is to strip all the dashboard, as they have no clue !!!

UPDATE: (13/7/2014)
i subsequently changed the battery (was feeling tired after almost 5 years)
the heater started working as if by magic...
Then last night after 3 days of working, i got only cold air... once home i tried starting the car again and once again the heater started to work
I am really lost (so is LR) Big Cry

Sorry can't help but hot water bottle comes to mind. Joking apart Is the car running at the right temperature?

It may help if you say year-model and version of your vehicle, it can easily be added so it automatically shows in any posting Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

Laughing
yes.. the right air vent will blow out hot air (always and every time)..
the left sometimes only cold air even though you put it on hot (though i hear the stepper motor adjusting non stop)
it will start to increase the temp.. only to go back to cold..

the problem is magnified when u use the air con ... the left side is freezing cold !

the year and model is revealed on the left side if you click your mouse on the icon of the car... Mr. Green

anyway it's like yours MY2010 TD4 manual

sounds like the variable resister operated by that knob is faulty. I can only presume, not having removed the knob , that it is behind it. Just a wild guess you understand Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

Shocked

would the variable resistor work 60% of the time perfectly and give problems for 40% of the time ?

I was thinking maybe some kind of sensor, conflicting with the command for hot air...
I have no idea of what inputs the climate control has... but maybe there are different sensors for each side (left and right ?) and the left one is giving conflicting information.

all i know is that the Radio is and always has been very erratic (not working sometimes at ignition) i wonder if they are all related somehow ?

I noticed that when it rains the left air blend motor gives problems as explained above.
Does anyone know or have any diagram of the set up ?
Is it possible that some water is entering the stepper motor causing all the problems ?
Could there be a perished seal somewhere ?

Thumbs Up thanks in advance

Cool
just an update in case someone has this problem..

LR diagnosed it as a failed stepper motor. this was replaced, and all seems ok now.
i hope it solved the problem ! € 250
