Suggestion is that more vulnerable road users (pedestrians & cyclists) were missed by drivers being dazzled by DRL equipped cars and perhaps complacancy by some 'no DRL coming, safe to go'... and miss the none DRL vehicle/road user or a 'they'll see me, I've got DRLs' mentality. Apparently in Austria accident rates dropped after DRLs were banned. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
