I will wait until I see the snow on the ground.

I hope it's not too bad as the bus company I work for are taken delivery of a fleet of 50ft tri axle coaches. I don't want my first day taking a £300k coach on the road to be in the snow. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Not long ago you were all for James Madden, in fact you said.

"In mitigation, for the last few summers when the met office has guaranteed a barbecue summer, he predicted otherwise and was later proved correct. He also correctly predicted the last 3 winters which have got progressively worse just as the met office said it would be a milder winter last year.

Who knows, he may prove to be wrong this time only time will tell but he hasn't got a bad record so far."

Agreed Thumbs Up

I found out the hard way after looking elsewhere online that he just got lucky. Trying to save others the same fate in believing in him. I suppose if you say each winter that it will be horrendous, you will be right one time. The boy who cried wolf perhaps... Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

To be honest, the long term forecast are hit and miss no matter who writes them. Forecasters have trouble predicting the weather for tomorrow!
Wake up, look outside and there's your weather. Very Happy

Indeed. Mr Madden got egg on his face when he predicted mega cold and snow for 2011/12 but it was a mild winter with the only snow in February. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

It ill be interesting to see what happens this winter. We are experiencing climate change as a result of global warming (regardless of arguments about its cause) and here in GB we will experience more extreme weather conditions as a result.

The Jet Stream has a huge effect on us and if it does stay below GB instead of in its more usual place over Scotland or north of Scotland we can indeed expect snow with colder temps and more violent storms / weather.

The extended period of cold weather last Spring was a result of the same thing happening then. Predicting the position of the Jet Stream in a month or two months time is a good trick it seems to me, them as gets it right will could clean up at the bookies!

If the Atlantic conveyor / Gulf Stream shuts down as a result of the massive melting of the Arctic ice cap our winters will become very hard indeed and all those images of folk skating on the Thames (amongst other things) will come to pass again (Elf and Safety allowing).

Yes something to do will polar bears expelling wind created a hole in the ozone layer wasn't it?

I remember back in school days (not that long ago honest)...the scientists were predicting we were heading for an ice age.

It's nice having unpredictable weather...gives us Brits something to talk about Smile
