Oil Change

Good Day anyone:

Has anyone changed the oil in their Freelander 2/ LR2

Where is the oil plug located, do I have to tear the bottom of the vehicle out???

Is the filter difficult to remove???

I intend to change the oil that came with the vehicle with synthetic, what do you think???

Vic, there's a "search" function on top. Just fill out "oil change" and you'll find everything you need.

land rover dealers probably suck the old oil out through the dipstick hole so id like to bet there isnt a easy access to the oil drain designed into the fl2 or any other car for that matter.

Could not find any information that helps out?????????????

I am unable to find a workshop manual in this part of the world.

I called the Volvo dealer before I purchased the synthetic oil and the service person told me that using synthetic oils in the 3.2 i6 is an option. Vic Benson

You'll find the oil plug behind the bottom plate that is fixed with 5 or 6 screws. My dealer recommended to exchange this plug each time in order to protect the thread of the oil pan.

Removing the filter:

Note that most of us in Europe have the diesel version, so what you'll find in this posts concerns the TD4.
I assume the location of the oil plug is similar for the petrol version.(that is: if it has any) Anyway, your Volvo dealer should know as the FL2 3.2 i6 has a Volvo engine.
Changing the oil filter of the petrol engine can hardly be more difficult... Banging Head
