Jan I think the white cover is something for those who tow tin tents behind them. It allows them to run their microwave ovens, deep freezers, fridges, satellite TV's, computers and all those things they cannot leave home without. I also have a white socket that I have never used.

That just about sums it up Tim. Very Happy

shar thanks for the photo with tow bar removed. Very neat. Is that the L R tow bracket Question Thumbs Up
Hi yes it is LR tow bracket we had it fitted at the dealers before we collected and with LR fitting it you get the 3 years warranty with it.

Shar, it would appear that LR have beefed the lashing point up a little bit (but not much!) compared to the Freelander 1.

The D3 and RRS have this cover plate in the rear bumper. The red thing at the bottom under the car is the blanking piece for the slot for the removable tow-hitch

Behind the rear plate is this lot and in the centre is the recovery eye

There is a similar plate in the front valance that covers a similar eye at the front.
Please excuse the quality of the picture - it is really wee'ing down with rain here. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

It's nice Jan but the little 30p plastic clips in the bumper that the cover locks into fall out very easily and cost 2 hours labour (£100-£150+) to put in as the dealer has to remove and replace the bumper to get access to them!
One of the things I did when I got the new car home was to go to the local non Franchise LR service outlet and we put the car on their ramp and stuck little Censored in with Loctite so they cannot escape again How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

Combination of price (ie lots cheaper than LR one), looks and reputation.

Also not having any bumper cuts and easy fit was important.
Car is a lease car, so I want to have the option of removing the towbar/bracket in 18m when vehicle is due for return. Don't want to leave any visible damage/cuts as a result.

You hardly notice the towbar socket when the towballs not plugged in.
Just looks like a big plug socket for supercharging the FL2.

Reliability wise, they don't seem to come with a better reputation than Witter, so all wins.

Works great for me, and easy fit.

Good deal from Towequipe too!.
Currently £195 (link http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/r41q?)

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

Many Thanks for all your comments, i have been checking peoples galleries to see pictures of towbars. I have decided that i am going to get either a witter or genuine land rover removable tow bar and then genuine land rover electric kit.

I have one further question which is :

Could any of you folks with either the witter or land rover removable tow bar measure the height off the top of the ball ( ie distance from the ground to the top of the ball ) so that i can check that my caravan will sit level.

Many Thanks markrt
