2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue

OK - thanks for all the replies. I don't need an MoT with this service as I had that done just before it was out of warranty. For reasons too complicated to explain the service lags the age of the car by 3 months, and I'm doing well under the mileage (less than 30k so far).

I've had quotes from two non-franchised places, the Freelander Centre of Coolham near me, who wanted £240+VAT=£288, all in including brake fluid (less if I didn't want it), and AJS 4x4 of Lower Kingswood, at 3 hours labour (£180) plus parts plus VAT, who say they will also change ALL filters and do a more comprehensive service than the main dealers.

Having bought new wheels and winter tyres off Andy (AJS) just before the snow came, and liked both the products he recommended and the service I received, I'm going with them - booked in for this coming Friday. I'll post the final price and any additional comments here. I know that I won't have any updates recognised or done (AJS say they can add this for £75) but I'm happy with this for the time being. Freelander 2, 2007, TD4, Auto, HSE, Baltic Blue

Okay, a cool deal here from a LR main dealer. 261.71p including parts and VAT for a 3rd year service AND Test Certificate. It did not include a renewal of the brake flid because it's claimed if your milage is low, then the fluid isn't so contaminated. A test is carried out to see if the water content is within limits. Shouldn't need replacing until 40-50k miles.

In essence, as the FL2 was coming up for 3 years old, the dealer sent me out a membership for an 'Allegiance Programme.'

It's free, but that said, I've always had the car serviced there.

Benefits,

20% discount of parts and servicing
Free MOT
12 months warranty on all parts fitted
3 months guarentee on all workmanship
4th year goodwill from manufacturer if appropriate
service actions/recalls done
Assistancve with ongoing mobility
Free wash and vac
Inclusion in all special offers

Sorry to have taken so long to return to this - problems with ageing parents on both sides of the family.

I used AJS as mentioned above. The total price for the 3rd service (no MoT) in which all filters were changed and rear pads were low so these replaced also, was £424.08 including the dreaded 20% VAT. I would estimate that without the pads it might have been £100 less. The service was done in a morning and I have been very pleased with the results so far.

I'm about to change back off the winter tyres and wheels Andy sold me, now that the road temperature is consistently above 8 deg C. I'll soon use up the little wear left on the old tyres so will be spending more money soon Big Cry . Freelander 2, 2007, TD4, Auto, HSE, Baltic Blue

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Mine is coming up in a month and I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a North Lancashire/South Cumbria dealership or independent garage...

The car at the moment is at 39,000 miles.

I found a great garage for servicing Booklfields in Cuffley . Needed the brake pads and discs changing they were quick and efficient and the price was good as well. Steve was one of the nicest people I have met in a long time.
Highly recommend them.

I think you may have missed Oldgeezer's point. Unless I am mistaken the emphasis was on the aaaaaahhhhhhhh, rather than a technical solution!

Personally I would be back to the dealer and we would have a long chat about what else wasn't done properly.

Hi, just been quoted £119 for a full service using manufacturers parts at Blackcircles.com . Stated it was a 39000 mile service just to get an idea of the prices for when mine is due.
