Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green
Twin Exhaust Back Box (LR052129) and Clamp (LR000953 WRONG)

Well it's my birthday and I bought myself a present as I decided life's too short! And after recently fitting the OE exhaust finisher, and was/is very happy with result, I decided 2 is better than 1 (outlets that is! Shocked ) Laughing .

And Clamp

Parts Schematic.

Reason for starting a new topic on this is that there seems to be "bibs and bobs" of information for doing this and some ambiguity around pipe size's and methods. I would also be interested in some guidance from Forum members whom have done this.

Firstly the parts are LR052129 rear back box Si4 (apparently they are all the same part now Si4/Si6) and Clamp LR000953 (refer further down topic - correct part number LR015372) from Schematic above.
Since receiving the parts I can confirm that on a MY15 that the Diesel System and Petrol have the same diameter.

LR052129 si4 Petrol is 60mm Diameter

MY15 Freelander 2 Diesel is 60mm Diameter.

The clamp is suppose to join the two sections together and this is where you have to cut the diesel model pipe as it's all one piece from the intermediate pipe or DPF if you have one (no DPF in Australian specification Freelander 2's).

This is where I need some assistance from members as I tried to test the clamp today on the back
Box and it appears that even fully wound tight it will still not grip the pipe?
Lightwater, Pilllip - by any chance would one of you guys be kind enough to send a pic of the clamp on your Si4's so I can see how it's attached? Would be very grateful as a picture can say a thousand words. As I'm using OE LR parts I'd like it to look how it's meant to be!

I suppose I'm trying to get all the information on completing this job before I start so as to avoid any problems. Plus if anyone wants to also do this changeover then it's clear how to proceed.

Thanks guys Thumbs Up MY15

All the manual seems to say is "Install the rear muffler and tighten the service sleeve.
Torque: 40 Nm".

I'm hoping/it should be as simple as that but the clamp today didn't seem to be closing in on the pipe before I ran out of adjustment Big Cry I didn't go all the way as I didn't want to fully close the clamp
Before it went on. I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else had run into this but I Haven't read anyone else on the forum use this clamp.
I'm hoping I can get a pic of one already clamped to get clarification. MY15

Stuart,

Just had a look underneath my Si4 and and it looks as though the pipe is continuous from the back box past the cat to around the A pillar where there's a clamp.

I'll try put a pic up

Tom

PS There are a couple of pics in my gallery. driving on the right side

Thanks Tom Thumbs Up that would be of great assistance.
Seems strange it continuous as the schematic shows 2 pieces from cat back on Si4?

Wow! That's very interesting as is a completely different system to the schematic. You should post these pics up as I'm sure nobody be aware of that configuration. Must be a region/emission specific specification.
As you can see the Australian system is separate from rear axle back to rear box.
Guess you can't help me with pic of clamp then Rolling with laughter Thanks for offering though, much appreciated Thumbs Up

Stuart, from the manual it looks as though the original factory fitment has a single pipe right back to the box. If you need to replace the back box you cut that pipe and use the connector to join the new back box.

I suppose the real test is whether it grips when torqued to 40Nm.

Ok Shocked well this is interesting! I wonder why the part schematic shows the intermediate pipe then? Be interesting if we can get Lightwater or Philllip to confirm.
Yes, could be right about the clamp, I really didn't want to wind it up all the way today. It must be correct. Rolling Eyes it better be! Laughing MY15

Topix clearly states that changing both petrol and diesel back box's involves cutting the pipe 300mm from the leading/front face of the back box so all systems must be one piece from factory, mystery solved, logical.
I've still got a dilemma with the clamp, as you can see its mm's away from gripping pipe fully wound in so I've returned it to the LR parts department whom are going to verify correct part.

Service also confirmed it should slide over both pipes and just clamp so we"ll see what comes back from the parts department, hopefully it's just wrong clamp. Rolling Eyes
In the meantime I'm cutting nothing and the new rear back box is living in life of luxury in the second bedroom! Shocked MY15

I think it is a continuous pipe. I will look at it in the morning. No light in the garage & we have some of that strange wet stuff from the sky which we haven't had for a month or so. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I'll suspect all one piece as it shows on Topix cutting pipe and using sleeve for both petrol and diesel. MY15
