H11 Led Cree Fog Lights

Has anyone tried these out? If so is the beam pattern and distance spread just as good as the halogen H11? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

LED fog lights are not as effective when used in a lamp designed for halogen bulbs. They will look white, but the light output will be comparatively poor

For better light output, you need a lamp that was designed for LEDs, such as these

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/DRL-LED-F...wwodDSgAbQ

I have them in my D3. This is only the DRL function on, the fog light is a much more focuses and intense light

And compared to the original fogs

LEDs will be easily much brighter than halogens, but, two things to consider - 1, fog lights don't need to be, and shouldn't be, hugely bright, and 2, the higher colour temperature of LEDs gives more glare and they offer poorer colour rendering - not good in poor weather conditions. Just worth considering, but I realise most fogs are used primarily as a fashion accessory more than anything. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame

why not look at the LED fog/DRL lights that Advanced are selling (other outlets are available Very Happy )

straight swap for you existing fog lights, just need to wire in the control box for them.

At £190 its pocket money for you LRNUT if your willing to pay that for a rechargeable torch Rolling with laughter

On a certain online site there is a LED direct units swap for the existing halogen unit and its not that expensive. Plug and play also, plugs into existing LR wiring plug.
Otherwise wouldn't be surprised if the LED units in the V40 or XC90 volvo would be a direct fit, just a thought Thumbs Up

Just to clarify ...

Led will easily be much brighter ... nonsense, it will need to be a higher lumen output LED to be brighter, only then will the statement stand up, not all LED's are brighter.

Colour temperature has nothing to do with glare, poor beam profile causes glare and colour rendering depends on the make up of the wavelengths within the spectrum of the light produced, LED's can have a very high colour rendering index.

Having said all that, you are correct they are a fashion accessory, I would much rather replace mine with something more useful, something like a bren gun to shoot out the rear fog lights ofthose who dont know how to use them Laughing
