No matter how hard you push or the force of the rocket, the treadmill is programmed to match that speed so therefore it will remain motionless.

Only if that threadmill will be glued to the plane in order to generate an opposite equal force. But it's not. Laughing
And therefore the plane will move and take off.
At the plane's wheels there isn't a friction force... It's a rolling one. Quite a different story. Elementary physics.

I would just like you all to take note of CG's comment.

I have been to Cleethorpes Sad and if any of you took a wrong turning and ended up there I would not want you thinking your in Yorkshire.

I've also been to Blackpool Shocked its in Lancashire I think. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

Me and Alex win the prize, what is it?

put a ball on a conveyor belt and it will often sit in the same place and roll, because the belt is only exerting a small force onto it at the lowest point. I've seen this happen many times with round potatoes on a flat conveyor they just roll at the same speed as the belt so in effect stay still.
And yes I have spend hours or even days watching potatoes on a conveyor belt, picking the bad ones one out before sale ( the bad ones go to caravan site shops and cafes Laughing ) At work

The plane WILL take off.

The planes turbines/props are exerting a force against the AIR, the conveyor has no or little effect on anything other than the wheels, which provide a little friction. nothing more, they have no part in driving the plane forward. The only way the plane would remain stationary would be to apply an equal and opposite force to it. This equal and opposite force would have to be a headwind created by a fan NOT a treadmill which is ONLY acting on the wheels NOT the body of the plane.

Of course...you may know different Rolling Eyes

Alex, CG.. Thumbs Up

Gunfa, oops your right, my apologies to those in Lincolnshire Laughing
