The MY10 is better looking, oh sorry thats not relevant Laughing

Actually I have not heard of any changes, not sure if the extra power of the SD4 makes any difference LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

If off idle torque is less then it won't be quite as good, although if it is more then obviously it should be slightly better. Other than that the undersides are a case of spot the difference Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Forget the front bib, it's the petrol tanks that need protection, as do the petrol tank mountings

Not funny when they get damaged. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Have done 60 miles on forrest roads, all 6-10 inches of snow in my SD4. This was running 1 hour ahead of Galloway Hills Rally with timekeeper. Only had 500 miles on clock so not able to comment.
On the road the SD is brilliant for overtaking with the extra torque. I drive a lot on country roads where overtaking chances are limited, I usually select sport mode in preparation and then change up manually instead of using kickdown. At certain speeds kickdown changes to too low a gear and you are out of max torque band. All FL2's (3) Gone

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

I was at the LR Experience day yesterday in Dunkeld, I asked the instructor about this. He reckons that there's very little difference at all off road because torque is largely the same between the 2 engines, we were in an SD and I can't say I noticed much variation from my TD.

I should add at this point that the LR Experience was a fantastic day out and would not only recommend it to anyone but am actually thinking of doing it again, even if I have to pay for it next time Rolling with laughter

Do the Freelander2 (LR2) still using the HALDEX III? I don’t know if they have upgrade to the HALDEX IV already!
May be the 11MY has the HALDEX IV AWD system! Thumbs Up

Hi Druand, yep, had a look at your gallery before going to Dunkeld to see what I was letting myself in for.

I really want to try it in the Summer now so I can have lots of mud to play in... say July when it'll be really rainy Laughing

LR2 uses Haldex IV since 2009. New 11MY has the same haldex as MY10, but rear differential is different. Also new 11MY has a water-cooled turbocharger, which is much less prone to overheating. As for the off-road capability, i agree, its basically the same as MY10. What may help MY11 to be slightly better is new ECU (which is faster) and new TCM module (transmission control).
