2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver
Tyre Wear

What is the general experience of you lot regarding tyre wear? Is it like a 2WD and the fronts wear faster or do they wear equally? How long do a set last in terms of miles? New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

my wheels at 11,000 miles had 4.5 to 5 mm left on them, even across width. two had slightly more wear than others, I don't remember which were front or rear though Confused so good for another 10,000 or so possibly.

edit. conti's At work

Changed my Goodyears at 24k of hard driving on mix of rough rural roads and motorways-about 2 mm on front and about 3 mm on the rears, now done 11k on the conti's and the fronts are wearing fast.

On A FL2 4wd the power isn't evenly distributed between the wheels, in normal terrain setting it's something like 80/20. (some one will correct that soon) Embarassed

I have Wranglers on mine. If memory serves, i got 21000 miles out of the first set of rears and 24000 on the first set of fronts. Rears are nearly due for changing again (41000 miles). Fronts look like they will do another 4 or 5000.

Done just over 20k miles on the fronts and got about 4mm left. Both rears are on 5mm. Not doing too badly, but the fronts are wearing faster. Par for the course I guess. Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Changed all 4 Goodyear Wranglers on the commercial this week at 24,000 Very even wear all round all four and all across all four. Best mileage I have ever had on a set of tyres! The previous x-type went through fronts every 10,000 and the two freelander 1s before that never got past 12,000 without needing a pair of tyres.
Paid £480 +vat supplied and fitted by local independent tyre co. 2009 Grey HSE Auto
Gone;
2006 Black FL2 SE manual
2007 Silver FL2 GS commercial manual.

Got 47,000 on the clock and am looking to change all 4 tyres in the next month or so, so maybe 50K on the first set of 18" Wranglers. That sounds to be about the best anyone has seen. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!
