You have to factor the cost of the car into the equation
How much a mile does it cost at 50 mpg on petrol.?
Not sure if the saving is as much as you make out.
For example how much does it cost to charge other than at home?( assuming you find a charger)
I am not convinced
I prefer to decide on the model of car and not have to buy something different just cos it’s electric.

I don’t sign up to the save the World ethic when China pollutes the way it does.

China pollutes less now that just a couple of years ago, and plans to be totally carbon neutral by 2050, which no other country is on target to achieve.
It's also very unfair to blame China for making more pollution than anywhere else, as it makes pretty much everything for everyone else, meaning less polluting in those countries contracting China for the stuff they make.
In truth, everything would be at least 20% more expensive if China wasn't making what it does for who it does. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate on order.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.

Absolute Censored
China India Russia

Do you honestly think China, the country that eats dogs, keeps bears for bile gives a toss about the rest of the World? ( apart from its greedy ambitions)

Never ever ever ever give China any degree of praise

If only we didn’t have to buy the Chinese Censored they sell.

Lots of it substandard.

Yes I know all about the Chinese made cars etc

The fact is our contribution to saving the planet is pathetic whilst the big polluters carry on the dirty work

UK wouldnt be anywhere near as "green" as it claims to be if it included all the pollution from the products we buy that are now manufactured abroad.

Its a bit like plastic recycling. Once countries stopped accepting our plastic waste, its now being kept in the UK and incinerated or dumped in legal and illegal land fills - most still goes into land fill.

Something isnt recycled until it is actually made into something else. Jules

Everything is either made in China, or is made with components made in China.
Quality wise, not everything China makes is bad, in fact a large majority of stuff is better than stuff made elsewhere, which is why China is the preferred manufacturing location. I bet at least 30% of your car is made in China, and I'm guessing 50% or more of what is in your house is also made in China.
Yes they may have some odd practices too, but they're not alone there are they? 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Lets be honest.
The only reason why stufff is made in china is because the Great British want cheap stuff and dont wish pay to have stuff made in the UK.
And manufacturers can make more profit by getting stuff made in China than in the Uk. Jules

From a cycling point of view (from what Ive read) the best carbon frames are now made in Taiwan, where all the expertise exists.

I have a titanium bike - its lovely - assembled in the UK, but the frame was made in the Far East. Jules

Not just the UK either, most of the Western world uses China and other Eastern countries to manufacture items because it's cheaper.

A few years ago I treated myself to a nice mountain bike, my first new bike I'd bought. I was surprised to see it's made in Indonesia, even though it's from a top brand.
I shouldn't have been surprised, as almost nothing is made in the UK anymore. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Actually Taiwan is a place of quality engineering
That’s why China wants control of it.

My Myford milling machine was made in Taiwan in the 80s.

Also if a buisness has access to cheap labour as well as reducing costs it helps control wages in other parts of their business as they hold it over the others when they ask for wage increases.

I'm wondering how much of our Ioniq 5 is made in China, I'm guessing at least some of it will be, even though the South Koreans as a country doesn't have a particular good relationship with the Chinese leadership 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
