Has anyone tried this CarPlay Mod?

Been looking at this for a while: https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wireless-a...2011-2015/

It seems to blend the best of both worlds - keeps the whole stock system in place but adds CarPlay/Android Auto.

It’s not cheap, but then neither is buying a new head unit, bypass cables etc and all the modules.

I would like to know if anyone has tried this particular product. I’m very familiar with the other options and have decided none of them are perfect so have never invested in them, but this one *looks* spot on. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

Can't help you with what you're asking, but thanks for the link.

I have been quite happy with the sound system and satnav in mine (MY09)
But now that it seems I won't be able to update the satnav it has started me thinking about an alternative solution.
Lately the sat nav has been taking longer to find routes so it may well be actually on its way out!
One reason I have held off, is that I like the layout and the info that the original satnav gives the user.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but does anyone know what satnav sytem LR uses?

To be the honest I’ve always found all OEM sat nav’s absolutely horrible compared to Google Maps. But sat nav is low down on my list for CarPlay. I just like the integration with my music streaming, even just the visuals. Learned to drive in 2011.

Gosh, that is expensive isn't it.

I installed an Alpine head unit and did a lot of faffing around with adapter cables etc. The head unit was on sale - an ILX-702, an English firm helped out with adapter units, although I ended up having to mix n match the two I had to buy after discovering that damn optic fibre cable.

Still not sorted properly but I can live with what I have.

An easier option would have been great. If that is what the link indicates I'd jump on it. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

There's a video that shows the instalation.
Everything looks to be plug and play with everything needed, provided.
A very simple install.
For me as I would be looking at swapping for the satnav part and comparing to the cost of a good quality stand alone (probably stuck to your windscreen) satnav I think it's not a bad price for the intergrated installation.
The only thing I wasn't keen on was the usb socket that was left loose in the glove box

🤙 I have an Xtrons unit in my 2008 FL2 and am seriously considering this Unique Auto unit for my Disco Sport as not having CarPlay is a real pain.
