Has you Dif or Haldex failed?

I think it would be interesting to see if there are more failures on 17" , 18" or 19" wheels of the rear transmission so if posts can be made thank you in advance. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The vote assumes you have changed only one Haldex on the same car. I am on my third complete Landrover factory refurbished Haldex unit which is now giving the same symptoms as the previous failures now so could be going for a fourth replacement which could be a record?

2013 MY 40k miles. 19" wheels automatic box.

My first Freelander 2 was an 07 TD4 HSE, which I bought in 2008, kept it for five & half years, & almost 60K miles, never had an issue, Whereas my 60 reg. SD4 HSE, has had the haldex pump, filter, solenoid & oil replaced at 58K, both running on the standard 18" wheels, only difference is, the TD4 had Goodyear wranglers, & the SD4 has Pirelli Scorpion Zero's!
Has anyone ever thought it may have something to do with the tyres too?

Can someone explain to me how wheel size could possibly have any bearing on the failures?

Possibly the 16 and 17" cars which were more likely to be used off road ? . I wonder if the use of AT tyres , the TR system set for more oomph to the rear helped the early demise of out rear diff bearing . Of course it could also be value engineering taken too far at the design stage Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Haldex and that bearing from the rear diff will have to cope with the torque born from the rotational differences between the axes.
People tend to ignore a most important thing: tire pressures. More exact equal tire pressures among wheels.
When you have a smaller rim (bigger tire baloon), a difference in tire pressure -> wheel diameter -> rotational speed will be more obvious.
I've always said that proper and more important equal tire pressure, or better said same diameter for all wheels, will be the most important one for a haldex based car. Then you wont have to worry about 17,18,...

Rear diff

Recently had rear diff bearing done @ 73k - LR Warranty to the 'rescue". However, having got rid of one droning / whining noise, there's a new version - I think from the rear - which wasn't here before the diff was worked on. Seems to be around 65-70mph, particularly on a smooth road, rather than the previous 40-50. Been back the the garage (LR Main dealer), provided a test drive but - of course - it declined to appear so no further investigation. Tyres are fine at 6-7mm.

A doctor has some trouble with his haldex, on a public holiday. He calls the local mechanic, only to be told it's his day off ...

"But I get called out on my days off, too!" says the doctor, somewhat exasperated, and the mechanic relents.

The mechanic arrives, and glances over the haldex, looking preoccupied. He mumbles something about golf, then hands the doctor a couple of aspirin and walks out, saying,

"Put these in washer bottle. If it doesn't clear up in 24 hours, come and see me tomorrow."
