We have an 07 and always use these on our trips south via France or Germany/Austria:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEADLAMP-BEAM-DE...xyk99R1VlJ

Have not had any problem and they stay in place even in a real rain storm such as we had last May/June on our way south through France.

There is a 'dot' roughly in the middle of each headlamp which is there to guide you as to where to place the reflectors following the instructions that come with them - you only need the circular part - you will understand what I mean when you get them.

Got a twin pack last year for about £7.50 - don't wait and buy them on them ferry/tunnel - they are some rip off price of around £9.00 a set.. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Thanks so much for your reply. Those are the ones I bought last year I just couldn't get my head around the correct location for them. They came with a huge leaflet of instructions and I must have got it all wrong. Any chance you could photograph the location or the 'dot' you describe for me please?

Lovely - thanks so much.
Bloomin car just started squeaking today. I am hoping its a belt and not a water pump bearing or similar..... Just about to start a search for that.....

Warm, dry weather - something has probably just expanded with the heat, is a bit dry and will squeak - may well go in a couple of days - I get it with the folding door mirrors. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Have you looked at http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic5922.html? I think there is a link somewhere in there to the correct shape for the masks. Remember it's counter-intuitive - you mask the LOWER RIGHT part of the light to cut out the upper left beam. If you buy and fit proprietary ones the instructions will tell you how to line them up with the centre mark on the lights. I'm assuming you don't have xenons - they have a lever which is accessed by removing the headlight from the car!
I used a black plastic sheet and cut out the appropriate shape using the template I found on here somewhere. Made several as they sometimes come off in the rain. Again, they must line up with the centre mark on the lights.
Edit: I confused my halogens and xenons. Halogens need masking on the older models, xenons have an adjusting lever.

Merlinrocket -

The 'dot' on the headlight lens is a small ring about 4mm in diameter and arrowed in the picture, remove the 'wing' from the Eurolite and centre the round part on the 'dot'.

Have a look at this thread towards the end. LR say that you don't need to adjust anything, not sure when this came in though.

Sadly on an 07 there are no built beam adjusters - I forgot to put on the beam deflectors once and was soon flashed repeatedly by oncoming traffic!
It also helps if you lower the general height of the beam via the dashboard knob. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Ah here it is: template for making masks and I can testify that it does work. https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...asking.pdf
I used Fablon with no problem.
Again, if you have Xenons (sorry, I wrongly said Halogens last time) then these instructions don't apply - use the adjusting lever at the back of the light. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

That's pretty interesting you know...... How come its a parallelogram (!) and not a circle like the proprietry ones in the packets?? I will have a go at making some I think. Also, I saw a post somewhere about fitting them to removable headlamp protectors. Not sure if that's possible...?

The circular ones tend to deflect the beam, so you don't in theory lose much light. The masks just cut out part of the beam, so you get less light overall. The masks Lucas used to sell had a silver backing to minimise this.
Gone full circle - I think I have somewhere a pair of full size deflectors I used on my minivan (and subsequent cars) back in 1970. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
