Apparently there is a large Hyundai Discount for some public servants like NHS workers, as much as £6,000 on a big 4wd. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I went in a mates XC60 at the weekend. 63 plate, with 75k on the clock but completely rattle free, very quiet and smooth.

It would definitely be on my short list in D5 form

First Service costs Subaru Outback

Just for anyone who is interested : I got the 12 month /12000 mile service done on my car today. at 363 days/11999 miles Rolling with laughter

The total cost was was 125.19 Labour 94.04 parts ( Oil, filter, drain washer, cabin filter, screen wash ) consumables and and oil disposal 8.90 and of course our old friend VAT 45.63

so a total of £ 273.76.

I had the tyres rotated diagonally as I'd done it myself at 6000, and now at 12000 the wear is perfect over all 4 and looking good for 3 years total life . The Starlink infotainment system was also updated. I left the car and walked 4 miles down to Otley and had a mooch then some fish and chips, then caught the bus back. My car came past the bus, on the hill, and it was nice to see it was not being spanked at warp speed on its test drive Bow down

so apart from one trip to the dealers at 3000 miles to have the oil dilution checked ( which resulted in a free oil change ) that's a year of totaly trouble free Subaru Motoring and not that big a shock.

The car was not service washed, which to me is a big plus point as a) nothing is free it all in the overhead b) i don't want my motor washing by anyone else anyway Thumbs Up

interesting to see an 18 month old Disco Sport on the forecourt taken in part ex against a new Scooby ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

EU service requirements are 12 months or 12000 miles which ever comes first. There is no 6 month service. We also get 3 year Bumper to Bumper warranty and and 5 year powertrain and transmission. Which I don't think you get Down Under. Your service must be dictated by the local conditions and what he importers think they can get away with. In the UK where Audi and Beemer do condition based servicing even 12 monthly is Stone Age .

To be honest I think the only reason that the Subaru oil needs a 12k change is dilution by diesel washing past the rings when it's injected into the exhaust stroke for Euro 6 DPF Regen . We don't get Petrol engines here . The boxer diesel us a lovely motor, if a little underpowered at 150 hp, and the Lineartronic CVT is one of the best Autos I've driven.

After the service I took it for a long drive home over the twisty moorland roads just for fun. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Toyota is also 6 months servicing. It's the wear and tear caused by our crap roads which the cars can't cope with.

Not sure what UK has for the Freelander but here it is 26,000km for diesel & 12,000km for petrol, both 12 months. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Perhaps what i should have said Bob is that we don't get the 3.6 petrol that our mates Down Under get, yes you are correct the dealer can order a 2.5 petrol, but apparently 99% of buyers want diesel. Most will be farmers filtering red Rolling with laughter

Ref TDY thankfully the organisers posted lots of "don't sit on the walls " signs, and we protected the new field gate from climbers and sitters, seems petty i know but sit 5 people on the top rail and its bent ! I post and wired an 8 metre gap where a car went through a few weeks ago.

I went out for the day as i didn't want to even contemplate the possibilities. Ive had a lousy 6 months with that field Rolling with laughter , Tour de Yorkshire, Two crashes through the wall, and to cap it all me and my wife were in the bottom , she was safety spotting me while i used a chainsaw to thin out saplings, some thieving low-life druggy jumped over the wall and stole our Stihl brush cutter, £600 !. despite me getting a number of CCTV recordings which show the reg and what happened, crime number from Plod etc..... same old story.

Its almost enough to make me un-retire and go back to work . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
