Turned out to be the Pump, replaced under warranty very quickly and politely by Harwoods of Pulborough.
Hats off to them! Very Happy Ex-Royal Mews 2011 SD4 HSE Freelander 2 in Galway Green,

A word of advice, if I may...
The pump, if failing, could damage pretty bad the Haldex electronics. It's proven and documented pretty well on the Russian forum, lr-club.ru.
The pump is driven through a fuse of 15 Amps.
Tested, during normal Haldex operation, the pump doesn't draw more than 3.5-4 Amps.
So, preventive, change the Haldex fuse with one of 5 Amps.
If the pump is showing signs of failure, the fuse will be first to go, possibly saving you a pretty big repair bill.

It's the FB6 fuse on the boot fuse box.

Alex
Why then if the Haldex draws only the 4 amp max in normal operating mode does LR fit that comparatively whopping great 15 amp'er?

As per your guidance if a non-techy like me fits the 5amp fuse in FB6 how will I recognise whilst driving (actually her Ladyship whilst driving her FL2) that that lower rated fuse has blown. What will be the warning message on the vehicles info screen Question

Thanks.

Don't know why they fitted a 15 A fuse...
I am having a 5 A fuse since about 2 years and it hasn't blow yet. And the system works OK, on and off road.
I believe that the value was kept from the old Haldex 3 system where the pump was working harder and draw more current.

When the fuse blow, it's like you have disconnected its connector. No communication with the car and the Transmission Fault, Traction Reduced, No programs available, etc stuff will pop in the message center.

England

Pegleg might have some input here, generally fuses are chosen to protect the circuit wiring, the device on the end of the wire will usually have its own protection on board in the form of a fuse/breake of some sort. The higher value possibly to cope with peaks on start up and prevent premature blowing through degradation, although as Alex says, two years without a hitch is good going.

I have a FL2 2007. Is it better to let the 15A fuse. I think it's a Haldex 3, isn't it?
