Rear door lock problem

I have discovered that my nearside rear door is playing up. To ensure it either locks or unlocks when using the remote control I have to give it 5 or 6 blips of the remote. A single blip or two when locked will not open it when locked or lock it when open. Its as if it has a lazy/sticking door motor. Is this a common fault, motors burning out, or will a good strip down and lube of all linkages etc solve the problem? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Nice pictures but what did you do, just a strip and clean out or was anything changed? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I had the same issue with mine ended up having a new rear lock fitted when under warranty.only way I could lock the door was to push the lever from the inside. Freelander2 GS TD4 Manual in Lago Grey Smile .Roof Mount DVD 9.2''Screen~Window Tints~Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth~Retro Fit Sony Satnav~iPhone Dashmount~Side Steps~Woodco Armrest~Mudflaps~Land Rover Sunglass Holder~LED Interior Lights~Private Plate.Evoque Collected 17th Sept 2012.

There have been a few posts lately about door latch problems. Mine happened a month out of warranty. Mike@LR was good and got me some goodwill. Part was 87 quid and then fitting, without goodwill at local dealer it should have cost 220 quid. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

....yes Steve D...just strip it and clean the electric motor - no parts change.I tried to add a video how to clean the motor but I wasn't able to add a link to youtube. (?)....make some search there. Its quite easy to open by removing the plastic cover using small screwdriver and clean the brushes and rotor by some contact cleaner.Putting it back together requires some caution and patience but its also an easy job.

To swap the latch mechanism is an easy half hour job.

Bit of a finger-trapper but quite quick and easy.

I've done them on both my D3 and the FL2

I had the same problem, rear drivers side door would unlock ok but wouldn't lock with the fob. Priced up the lock (£83) was planing to fix when I had the spare time, but lucky for me it started locking again. Bow down
