More tyre confusion. sorry.

Hi all,

I know tyres get asked about all the time, but this is more specifically about the 19" rims and what is available now, as this does change since some of the older posts.

I have the 19" shadow chrome wheels, currently with 235/55 R19 Continental Cross Contact UHPs on them. I live in surrey, so don't have to face some of the snow levels that people do up north, but i live in a village with hills in all directions and snow has become an issue in the past.

I'm not convinced im at the "second set of wheels" stage yet to have some separate winter tyres, so looking for something that will do all year, not be too noisy, do ok in snow but good the rest of the year, and not Censored off insurance companies. I'm getting the impression from searching that the UHPs do ok apart from quick wear and not so good in the snow. It also seems that after looking on here that the respected General Grabber AT2s don't fit that wheel size unless bend the rules a little.

Any suggestions? especially from those with the same size wheels. Am i better off pickup up an e-bay special on some 18/19" wheels and sticking on winter tyres.

Many thanks,
Mike '08 Freelander 2 HSE in Stornoway Grey

Best bet would be a set of 17" alloys and pop on some 235/65x17 Winter tyres or you can fit Winter tyre to your 19", we have all these in stock.

By having a spare set you would have the best of both worlds so long as you have the space and means to change at home. Andy.

npinks - If I do go that route, that's a good price. Having to travel up to Leeds would be the down side Wink

AJS4X4 - thanks for the advice. If I do stay with one tyre though, do you have a recommendation for a good all year round tyre for that wheel size?

Thanks,

Thats not problem Thumbs Up there are wheel couriers that can do it quite cheaply as well the forum members courier services

There are some AT tyres that can be run all year round, but on my wife's car we ran continental winter tyres all year round and her insurance company were fine about that, but she does do low mileage Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I and lots of my customers like the Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme, and have many that run them all year round.

To get value for money and depending on mileage two sets is a good wat to go........depends on your needs. Thumbs Up Andy.

Might have to convince the missus this is a good idea. Short sighted, but she may want to wait til nearer winter for us down south Wink

Just how bad are the cross contact UHP's in light southern snow. '08 Freelander 2 HSE in Stornoway Grey

If I was just to put the Vredestein on my existing wheels and swap the tyres back in spring, what do you charge for just swapping tyres over? and what is the price of the tyres and fitting for this year.

Hi Guys

Don't want to create another thread

I also have 19 inch 235 55/19 and want to buy rims and off road tires

what can you recommend ? 16 inches or 17 inches ?

If it's 17 the dimensions should be 235 65 17 ... but if it's 16 inches what would be the dimension ?

Thx

You are a long way away.........

Have one set of very nice 16" F2 alloys which you can fit 225/75x16 or 235/70x16 with no problem.

4 X 16" Alloys £200.00 Andy.
