I had those ambient orange l.e.d's on my last beamer. Had it for about two of the three years before I even noticed them
Extremely directional "downward fill light only" and only noticeable as a very dim glow when you put your hand in the region of the gear lever. If you look at the roof lining you will not notice anything as they are recessed, so you have to twist your head over the gear lever console and look straight up before you can see them. There are probably a few on here who have them fitted to BMW's and Merc's but like me, haven't noticed them.

my A3 had them also illuminated interior door handles the latter so dim you couldn't see them until you actually pulled the handle.

they are a nice touch, cheap too

tractors have the downlights too, its cheaper and easier than individually illuminating the switch gear At work

The thread title says MY09 onwards. It may help someone to know that I have just fited the new light assembly to my MY07 SE. Got it from Brit-car for £20 inc p&p. Five minute job. 2007 TD4 SE Manual Santrini Black

If I don't have the sunroof, is there a possibility to power those ambient orange led lights?
