Hi. The HTC Touch Dual (is this the one you mean?) works 100%. The phone I have is through Orange and has WM6 installed on it. Its really easy to pair, just ignore the first message that says pairing failed - it lies!

have a look to see if there is any firmware updates for the phone

I don't have a BB 8700 but some have said something along the lines of adding a com port to the phone or something like that Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

GAP Insurance speak with Kam100 on RRSport

I hear he won't be beaten on price and cover

He's away at the moment, but the link below will take you were you need to be, I'm sure there are others at his firm that will help with Freel2 discount

Nokia 6300 works perfectly, rock solid signal, reads the phone book immediately (unlike my N95, which drops the bluetooth connection far too often and from which the car cannot read the phone book).

The 6300 also turns out to be a reliable, tough little phone that resists being dropped, sat upon and generally abused by my children. Thumbs Up

HTC Touch Diamond

Hello,

Do you know if HTC Touch Diamond is compatible with our cars' bluetooth system?

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry, I don't know about the HTC Diamond specifically, but in general the integrated bluetooth system does not seem to cope well with smartphones. At best, you get connectivity but it won't do fancy stuff like looking at the phone book, scrolling though contact lists or looking at calls dialled or received, at least not in my 57 plate version of FL2.

I am sure that both Land Rover and the phone manufacturers are working on this and it would be worth asking your dealer and checking the phone maker's website about any recent software update for the car, as new handsets come out all of the time.

Having used the system in the HSE, through the higher-end sound system, I have to say that it works incredibly well, but it is crazy that you can't upload your contacts to a memory built into the car. It means you always have to have the same phone with you and that you have to use the phone speed dials instead of programming a speed dial onto the number pad of the FL2.

The other thing I have noticed is the huge drain on a smartphone battery imposed by BT connections. After a two hour journey with frequent calls, the N95 is pretty much dead and the 6300 is half-dead. I now travel everywhere with a charger.

Maybe one of the owners of a brand new FL2 can tell us whether it can cope with a Blackberry Bold or an iphone 3G, the two other leading candidate phones for saddo's like me who need phones that do everything?

Sorry not to be of more help.

My personal iPhone 3G works fine in mine. Also an HP IPAQ 914 works fine - although, the iPAQ is a PoS IMHO. But then I was supplied it by my new employer - who happens to be the manufacturer ... My previous Blackberry Pearl was the best phone I have ever had - simple to use and did everything perfectly.

If using any 3G phone, the battery life will be shocking. If then adding BT connectivty as active, then it degrades even more. Technology hasn't got this bit sorted yet. Chris

My iPhone 3G also works well with my LR2/FL2. Previously, I had a WM5 phone that I had to jump through hurdles to get it to sync up with the BT system of the LR. This one paired simply, I now see signal strength posted on the car display along with the cell carrier. All in all, a nice trouble-free match.
