steering Column Locked

Just got back in the car after dropping something off at home, reversed out the drive, driving along a was suddenly aware there was a message flashing up on the dash display

"steering column locked" a second or two off then "steering column locked"

I just stopped the car, nothing behind me and doubled checked with a few turns of the wheel in each direction but no feel of it been locked or attempting to lock

Another Strange Glitch in the machine Question or a failing sensor Question

I think it was covered to why it came on when parked but not whilst driving, well my search didn't bring much up Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It has also occurred while driving. See http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic5131.html...ering+lock especially second page. Looks like it's either a new column or (gasp!) a software update.

i had a look at that thread briefly but read it as if it was stationary

I think it was a software glitch, and one thing wasn't talking to the other, if i get it again then there might be a problem, if not a one off glitch Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No, a couple of posts definitely refer to it happening while driving. Alex posted details of the software update.

Looks like you've got another sensor malfunctioning, your MPG is reading far too high Whistle

I wonder if it has stored any fault codes on the ECU, would be interesting to know and what if any trouble codes were stored. Question

Is your VIN greater than 113897 ?
Then look at: http://www.freel2.com/forum/post95754.html#95754
