Letter received from DVLA this morning in response to my request to update the reg doc to 5 seats. They advise that an amended version should be sent to me within the next few days. It also says that the description of the vehicle is supplied by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders SMMT (not LR as suggetsed in some previous posts) and that my certificate will read Freelander SE TD4 - just as it says on the rear hatchback.

So my continued advice to anybody waiting for someone else (LR, dealers etc) to resolve the problem for them is stop moaning about the situation and get the thing sorted yourself!

how long ago did you send them your old V5 ?

Isn't there a '2' in there somewhere .....? Thats what it says on the back of my estate car !!!! (well its an estate car according ot the V5 )

I sent mine of a few days ago, telling them to put the "2" in and the extra seat

To be honest I always thought "Freelander 2" was a bit of a naff name - what was wrong with just Freelander? Maybe even give it a Mark Number or Series II or something, but not in it's actual name. I guess they wanted to disassociate the car with some of the bad reputation the old FL had (build quality etc).

Not very imaginitive though is it? It's like all these financial corporations that merge and just stick the names together, like PricewaterhouseCoopersMorganStanleyDeanWhitter

It because when you meet a fellow freelander 2 owner your conversation will be

" I have a landrover freelander 2 too"

and then you can all roll around laughing at the idea of a pink frilly too-too with a big landrover insignia on it been for sale next the landrover fleeces and baseball caps.
