I prefer the LR3 (Disco 3) and LR2 (Freelander 2) names as used outside of Europe.

Wales 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

I sent my V5 off to the DVLA 2 weeks ago to have it updated to 5 seats. Also I mentioned to them that it was a Freelander2 not a freelander.
I received a letter back stating that the FREELANDER2 SE TD4 IS A LIMITED EDITION MODEL and the manufacture has not issued a special code (for use on the DVLA computer system) to describe it.
It also says if I am unhappy about the situation to contact VAUXHALL direct.
They also have not returned my V5. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Perhaps Ford have sold LR to Vauxhall and the only ones who know are the DVLA, alternatively it may be wishful thinking on Vauxhalls part so they could sell FL2's instead of that Antara thing of theirs.......... Rolling with laughter

After all that must send my V5 off to Swansea

ps has anyone done a 7 seater conversion on a FL2 yet, that would really confuse the DVLA!

Wow, Land Rover have caught up!
I have received a letter this morning from Steve Cafearo - Customer Services Operation Manager at Land Rover UK reading;

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
2007 Model Year Freelander 2
Re; Incorrect Seating Information on V5 Registration Document
Land Rover has identified a concern with the V5 registration document issued to all UK Freelander 2 vehicles registered prior to April 2007; the seating information on the V5 registration document may incorrectly state the number of seating positions.
Data used in the Automatic First Registration and Licensing (AFRL) process erroneously identified the Freelander 2 as having 4 rather than 5 seating positions. As a result of this error your V5 registration document may be incorrect. No other vehicle information is known to be incorrect, however the DVLA have advised that the affected V5 documents will need to be corrected.

It then goes on to ask you to check if your V5 shows 4 seats, and if it does to return the V5 together with a pre-printed pro-forma document explaining the reason for the return. There is also a prepaid envelope.
They then quote the 0870 5000 500 Land Rover Customer Care number if you have any concerns.

I guess they wanted to disassociate the car with some of the bad reputation the old FL had (build quality etc).

Not very imaginitive though is it? It's like all these financial corporations that merge and just stick the names together, like PricewaterhouseCoopersMorganStanleyDeanWhitter

It was renamed because the Mk1 Freelander had such a poor reputation (unjustified in my experience and that of my neighbour and ex who have both run R plate Freelander 1's with out a single problem and for in excess of 200,000 miles in the case of my ex's 1.8 GS 5 Door which has now been replaced by a last model CRV which is awful and has broken down twice) How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
