Metal plates... can I take them off?

Hi Guys/Gals

I have 2 metal scuff plate looking things in the back of the car by the foot well.
They are loose-ish but, before I pull them off, I wanted to check that it is an aftermarket part and that it actually didn't come with the car as I bought the car second hand.

Cheers

Yes, after market, usually held on with 3m sticking tape. Shouldn't be a problem to remove.

Thanks Wizking.

Would anyone be able to take a pic of what it looks like without these please. Mr. Green

Not sure if to keep them on there or not. Neutral

Hey AiiEEX, What are you thinking of taking them off for? You don't like them or are they just coming loose? 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Both. A little loose to the touch but still not sure if I like them.
The previous owner "metalled" up the car, so I guess it was put on from new so hopefully no scuffs underneath!

Good Morning AiiEEx, Those are the Land Rover genuine stainless steel scuff plates as listed in the Freelander accessories. You will also -or should have - two stainless steel strips with the Land Rover logo on the front door entry trims. They protect the plastic trim from getting scuffed. Memory tells me they are quite expensive but do do the job.

G'day Cool

Yep, I do have the metal scuff plate for the front also.
I assumed they were standard on the HSE Embarassed

Nice to know I have "inherited" some exxy parts. I got the dealer I bought the car from to take off the metal look wing mirrors (I should have kept them though), but I still have the metal protector bars at the bottom and a roof rack Mr. Green

on the underneither of them, they'll have a LR part number Laughing

Hairdryer and thin fishing wire will cut through the tape when you have softened it

then tar and glue remover to remover the last of the sticky residue

then sell them on here,

the scuff plates and the fronts plates are about £170 new iirc Shocked Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
