PTC heater fuse location

Can somebody clarify where abouts the PTC heater fuse is located.

Looking in the handbook it states that the fuse is in the engine bay fuse box at fuse No.16 but comparing the handbook picture to the actual fuse box there's no sign of the line of fuses that hold the No.16 fuse.

Reading some of the threads on hear it also states that the fuse is on the main cable from the battery. I have noticed an in line fuse on the main + cable so is this it?

The reason I'm asking is that the PTC heater does not seem to be working at start up in this cold weather, It worked fine last year after the recall work was done so I'm hoping it's just the fuse that needs replacing.

When people have said it's on the main cable, that's were the dealerships cable tied it when they took the fuse out whilst the replacement PTC part came available Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks chicken george, just spotted the drawn on arrows.
So i take it that the screw drivers are holding down the lug's that secure the fuse cover to the PTC line of fuses?
Does this cover just pull out & up with the screw drivers?

Thanks

Looks like the 2010's have a different fuse box....

This would explain i guess why they put spare large
fuses in the roof of the box when all the fuses are mini blades.

Random I know but when retrofitting the xenons and heated washer jets it would have been nice to know where the wires go roughly! lol

Hi,

Read a little about the PTC heater. Have to say I'm not sure if mine is working. I do not notice the cabin warming up very quickly. A dealer also said that some gases would appear behind the front offside wheel arch.

In short how can I tell if this heater is working or not.

Many thanks

Andrewprd

dealer is a fool, the ptc is electric inside the vent system, its not super hot but does help warming time. dealer is referring to a fuel burning webasto heater, not available in the UK At work

No gases as it's electric, not the webasto that the D3 has which is fuel powered

OK

Comments about Dealer noted. Just wondered how I can tell if PTC is working or not. This is my first Land Rover and first winter so I have no comparison and I don't believe there is a dashboard light as there is for heated front screen?

Also at the risk of going off topic and I know there is a thread on this. Can I get washer jet heaters fitted or are they on newer models. Mine is 2008 HSE.

You can guess I'm not all that technically minded. Just love the Freelander.

Many thanks,

Andrewprd
