I've noticed over the past few days that my car a developed a flat spot on acceleration when cold. It it more noticeable on the 3rd to 4th / 4th to 5th gear changes, around 1700 rpm, just as the boost kicks in. The engine hestitates slightly and then accelerates fine.

I'm a tad concerned this may be signs of turbo failure and even more concerned about having no warranty!! Anyone else noticed this / any idea??  Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Hi i dought it is turbo failure as it would lose power all the time in all the gears it the turbo had gone ( had a turbo blow before on a different car) What type of fuel do you put in ? try at least 3 full tanks of shell V power to clean through the fule system might help. My FL2 runs far better on it than the super market crap.

Put a bottle of diesel redex in for a good flush out.On special at tescos for £1.50.Might be just a slightly sticky injector.

Thanks for the comments. I thought about putting in some V-power or the like, but I hate having to pay even more for fuel than I already do!! It could well be a sticky injector, but it seems starnage as the car gets a good run to work each day (22 miles) and I'm not the slowest driver in the world. Have a look at my post on page 2 of the Technical section headed Possible Computor Glitch. The dealer is still working on this fault on my fl2 and both LRSA and LRUK are involved with it.
As soon as I have an answer I will post it for all.

If it is a manual & a 2010 model year mine has a similar or same issue & a few others appear to have it too(there is another thread on it) Don't even bother telling the dealers or Landrover themselves as most of them have no answer as to what it is or could be, When their technicians drive the car with you in passenger seat they can't fault it & when it is plugged in to the diagnostic system you are told ""There is nothing wrong with it sir!"" = Hopeless excuse because if the computer says no it means no fault  (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Hi not having a go or anything but it makes me laugh when people say i am not spending the extra on the fuel price for V power etc. How much did you spend of the car £15000 £20000 and so on, why put poo fuel into a car that cost so much money to buy ? When you work it out it only costs about £3.50 per full tank to have the good stuff, would you put cheap oil in the engine ? The choice is yours

Point taken, but higher octane (or diesel equivalent) fuel has never made any difference in previous vehicles, either in terms of performance or economy. If it did, I would use it in a shot. Standard fuel, other than supermarket rubbish, is of a required BS standard and is suitable for all vehicles. The argument from my perspective is based on the fact us drivers get taxed to f k and it really winds me up, so any saving, no matter how small, is good. Mine's an auto, but it sounds as though it's the same kind of problem. Know what you mean re. the dealers, as it's frequently the case of waiting for something to fail completely before 'computer says yes'!! Disclamer - I have absolutely no training/qualifications on engines whether they are on a truck, car or lawnmower, hopefully that will keep some people happy.

Sounds very similar to a fault that was on my wifes car (but not a Freely) and it progressively got worse - ended up being the Mass Airflow Sensor. Might not be it philsh but it just sounds familiar - good luck

Hi i get what your saying we do get taxed to F**K on fuel, but i only run V Power in my FL2 now having tryed the super market poo. And in my opinion my FL has more punch in the gears, runs smother NO smoke out of the back and my MPG went up by 2, plus it cleans the fuel system and parts of the engine, so for £3.50 per full tank over super market crap i dont think its to bad, but each to there own
