I don't know if it's the council 'fixing' the potholes in our area but my alloys seem to be getting a hell of a lot of tar deposits on them.
Just spent an hour trying to get them all off but can't get rid of some of them.

What does everyone use to clean their wheels and has anyone got a solution to getting rid of tar spots in hard to reach place on alloys?

On cold wheels only if it is a standard alloy wheel use Autoglym wheel cleaner though note this is acid based so wet the wheel first, spray some on & leave for about a minute then use a bug sponge as it is textured which should do the job or an appropriate wheel brush.
Autoglym or equivalent tar & glue remover will also help too or even white spirit.
You can also polish with Autoglym Super Resin Poilish which will also help to remove marks & make it easier to clean in future.

Wheels need to be cleaned at least once a week to keep them nice but DO NOT go into the drive in type hand car washes as that is the quickest way to ruin wheels & paintwork!!

as well as using a good cleaner I use wonder wheels once a year and they come up like new

Cheers for that I use P21 Gel and Poorboys Wheel wax (though haven't done the wax since last Summer)

Wheel cleaning is my least enjoyable cleaning operation and welcome any tips to make it easier, I bought some Autoglym wheel sealant spray but haven't tried it yet. FWIW I bought the Flash sheepskin wheel cleaner from Halfrauds for £7.99 and it's a load of rubbish. Thanks EV for the tips.

White spirit won't harm the wheels or the paintwork.

If using a wheel sealer ( I do apply the Diamondbrite version at time of main application if customer asks) the wheels need to be either new or in that sort of condition - if that makes sense!

I got some muc-off wheel cleaner free from auto express, good stuff I even bought some more when it ran out, previously I was a big fan of wonder wheels stuff At work
