Which is strange, as mentioned above, mine came with Pirelli Scorpion Zeros and during the really bad weather we had in the last few months, only once did I have to switch TR on.

I too have Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres and the lateral grip of those tyres on ice and snow is disastrous.

The ABS system of the FL2 is designed that for speeds below 3 kph to LOCK the wheels in order that on gravel or sand to help stopping by building up stuff in front of the tire.
Unfortunatelly, on ice, locking the wheels on a slight curve, even on speeds that low, will mean a "beautiful" lateral slippage which could take you 180 degrees in the wrong direction.

The only contact between our 2 ton car and the road is through tires.
Correct tyres could make the difference between life and death in limit situations, as the laws of physics couldn't be broken, not even bent Very Happy, no matter how many safety or traction systems there are or how many wheels are powered.
So get proper tyres for the situation at hand people!

I have Pirelli Scorpion Zero on my summer wheels - excellent for what they are designed SUMMER driving Thumbs Up but I would never use them in winter Wink

Which is strange, as mentioned above, mine came with Pirelli Scorpion Zeros and during the really bad weather we had in the last few months, only once did I have to switch TR on.

By comparison the bad weather in the UK quite mild to what is experienced in winter Norway and presumably the Pirelli's on the Freely should work effectivly in snow. However I stand my last comments when it concerns real harsh winter weather. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
