You get an error message saying " smart key not found" the engine will continue to run if it is running, once the engine is stopped then it cannot be re started.

Thanks - I was wondering about that. I had assumed the car would stop when it got out of range. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

My 13my told me today via a message on the dash and constant bonging that the battery was on the way out on the remote, quick change of the cr2032 battery and silence restored! Smile
iI had a new case fitted to my key fob by the dealer and all was ok for a week before the dreaded message and bonging came back to say the battery needed changing again which I did, still no different so took it into Carrs of Truro who did a hard reset which lasted 8 days before the message came up again,I have tried the spare key and still the same, any ideas please! Did they actually replace the battery inside or just change the case? I had this on one of my keys and took it apart and replaced the battery. Not difficult After that it was OK. If after changing the battery the problem persists you could of course have a problem with the inductive charging not working on the car itself. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Yes, no inductive charging on MY13. It's a straight battery swap. Sorry can't help with the problem though. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Freelander 2 Fobs have a soldered in Battery Disco.
I get mine refurbished inclusive of Battery Buttons Circuit Board problems.
Had 3 done now and 12 months later no problems.
I have a trade account with Battery suppliers and tried to rplace my own Battery but there are so many problems not related to the Battery that I now sent my fobs to be Electronically checked. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.

Only earlier models have the soldered in battery. As stated above, MY13 have a straight swap lithium non-rechargeable battery. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I noticed that on my MY14 FL2 both keys had battery failures indicated at same time more or less on the FL2's 3 year birthday.
I swapped both batteries (about 2 weeks apart) and all is now ok, but I do wonder if I could have got away with just taking same battery out then back in.
Is the low key battery indication a time driven function of the car?
(PS I know that batteries are too cheap to worry about, but I just wondered.) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Hi all recently bought afl2. And I've noticed 1 key fob opens all the windows the other just gives a disgruntled beep and headlights flash. Strange 🙄

I’m hoping a new key case from RRUK will solve the issue of the key not ejecting correctly and having to pull it out which leaves the ignition live and kills the battery. The ignition key docks aren’t readily available from LR, on back order, probably forever!?
