United Kingdom

a FFRR i had for 10 days had a LR misfuel system in it, which for some reason was activated prior to me having it

It dropped a small yellow cover down over the hole about half a petrol/diesel nozzle down the hole.

It took me 10 minutes to get a tenners worth of fuel into it, I thought it was down to the pump been faultly, but it happened again a day or so later at the next fill up.

I am ashamed to say I had to RTFM to find out what was going on, and it had a little reset tool in the boot which opened the device and it flowed great after that

This device still let the nozzle in, but would cause the flow to back up causing the nozzle to click off all the time. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I wonder why in these days of "High Tech Stuff", nobody has come up with a universal design for each filling system (diesel/petrol) that makes it impossible to fill with incorrect fuel Shocked .

While they were at it they could make a unique filling system for diesel cars which is different from lorries, busses, tanks etc. so that "normal" motorists can pick up a clean pump handle each visit to the filling station Thumbs Up . 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

slows? does the pump keep clicking off?

No but you cannot run it with the pump trigger fully depressed as it "blows back" and fuel runs down the lovely black bodywork.

When I was a little boy, I played with blocks. I seem to remember the square did not fit the circle and visa versa.
Why don't they do that with the spout and nozzle design?

I was speaking to a pal about this recently and he stated that Ford have now stated fitting fuel fillers which are not interchangable but he did not have details of how the system worked.

Because that is too easy and too obvious for the design monkeys Rolling Eyes 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

one mile down the road and it cost him 4 grand,he has been ripped off ,my mate has a freelander like mine and his wife put petrol in it then drove aprox 1 mile home ,next morning it wouldnt start then she realised what she had done ,they didnt ring land rover as they knew what they would say ,they rang the AA who relayed them to a local specialist
the specialist stripped the tank out ,emptied it,refixed tank, ran cleaner through all tank and engine ,put couple gallons of diesel in tank added aditive then told the lady to fill to the brim with diesel charged £380 inc vat ,freelander is as sweet as ever and that was 14 months ago Wax on Wax off
