Loss of power/transmission failure??

I have a 2007 automatic and 2 days ago had a total loss of power when selecting drive, and then ( when it did eventually kick in )while driving too---- scary !!!!!!! LR assist diagnosed a transmission fault-- and since then this has recurred,, Vehicle currently in dealer awaiting diagnosis and " treatment ". Has anyone else had a problem with transmission failure as diagnostic code , and if so-- what was the outcome. I am just trying to see whatelse is out there as I don't want to be fobbed off by the dealer.. Thanks.

Hi Lesley

I had a similar exprience where the gearbox seemed to miss gears and at times lose drive and then clunk into action, a bit unnerving at junctions. On the last ocassion it came up with transmission fault on the dashboard, went to the dealer who ordered a new gearbox and it was fitted 4 days later. Car now drives great again.

It sounds like you need a new autobox like mine.

my auto gear box!!!!.
Now I don't want to be spreading doom and gloom ,but I guess those of us with early auto gear boxes s need to be looking at and thinking about a possible manufacturing issue here --- so something to bear in mind.
I wil be seeking further details as to what actually " failed " . Thanks for the " heads up " last week

Thanks for update. I'll be interested to know what caused it and whether I need something doing before I run out of warranty in March next year. That's worrying and also confusing as the letter sounds as though it refers to out of UK vehicles, but according to the VIN range, mine falls into the problem area. Has anyone else with a 2007 Auto had their's done by their dealer?? Question Question Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Hi Guys... the vehicle is back with a new gear box.
Thanks for your help.
Interestingly the dealer said he wasn't aware of any documentation /notification relating to gearbox failures..... so I will be writing to LR to see what their take is .... otherwise a brilliant drive and I am more than happy with my LR.Just thankful it was underr warranty !!!!!!!!!!!!
