Hello everyone. I was wondering what was everybody getting fuel consumption wise. I have a manual diesel and am getting 28.8mpg on a good day.... is this normal?

The onboard computer, on my TD4 Manual, tells me 7.4 Litres / 100 Klms (about 31 MPG) on a 75/25 split of country roads and Motorways.

I do use the Cruise Control, quite a bit, on the Motorway and of late have wondered whether this affects my fuel consumption adversely.

Normally I'm at 8.1 l/100 km. But I drove last month 2 times (1200 km) to the Netherlands (no hills Wink) 80% motorways consumption went down to 7.2 - 7.4 l/100 km. Freelander 2 SE 4Td Izmir Blue, Dog cage for Alaskan Malamute, iphone Navigon Navigator

mine is around 41 most of the time but on warm days it seems to hang around at 43. These are on a 60mph road but if i dropped to 50mph say in traffic the mpg would be up to 45

I get 35 to 38mpg in my manual Td4, it's now got 4500 mile on it.

We went to Longleat in August, M1 - M42 - M5 and the computer was
reading 40 to 42 mpg, 70mph in 6th most of the way.

Shaun.

Mine is an SE auto which, when I first got it would return upwards of 38mpg on a motorway journey. Last weekend on a trip from Blackpool to Northampton and back it averaged 32.5mpg. I have not got a heavy right foot. It returns 29+mpg around town! Odd.

After doing 76000 over the last two years with mostly motorway driving I have averaged 41mpg in my manual diesel. If you have a very low mpg indication I think this could be quite simply down to when you reset the computer. ie... if you reset it from standing start and do short town journeys it will take quite a few miles for it to start going up to a realistic indication. The opposite is true too.... If you want to feel really good press the reset button on the motorway at about 60mph, take your foot off the accelerator and wait about 15 secs for it to reset the average, my highest mpg so far doing this is 999mpg. Totally useless but it certainly makes you feel good doing that many to the gallon Smile The computer does take quite along time to work out it's average.
I think good mpg is truly down to driving style.
