My First Land... Nickname, Snoop Dog

Hi guys, Leo here from Virginia, US.

I got this 200K miles 2008, Freelander LR2. I paid $1000 and only got it because the engine sounded great. The car runs fine but, there are issues for sure.

The nickname Snoop Dog is because the car smells like weed all the way. Shocked

Problems:

- radiator leaking... I got an aftermarket one with 5 years warranty.
- cats are super loud... Probably with holes in it.
- rear diff if covered in oil.
- Sometimes I hear a small clunky noise coming from the back of the car. Maybe the haldex or low oil in the diff?
- there are oil leaks EVERYWHERE under the car. I will need to pressure wash it to figure out where they are coming from.

Now my question and I really appreciate any assistance... I was totally ignored in other land rover forums.

1 - should I add a bit of grease to the hoses to connect the new radiator?
2 - should I get the Chinese remanufactured rear diff from eBay for $400? Or should I replace the seals and bearings myself? Can I do it with regular tools? I also heard about repair kits for the haldex, not sure if they actually exist.
3 - can I remove the cats without pulling the engine?
4 - since the radiator is out, should I go ahead and replace something else that is on that area?

The car belonged to a teenager and he called me when the belt and tensioner exploded. I replaced it about 8 months ago. Now he got another car to destroy so I bought the LR2 from him.

Thank you again... I will take the time and get this car in great shape so that it can run another 100K miles.

I will need your help and I really appreciate any advice.
Leo

I'm sure you will get answers to your questions but the forum tends to go to sleep over the weekend, in the meantime it may be worth doing searches on the rear differential and the Haldex in the forum search, I doubt if you will get ant recommendations for a Chinese refurbished differential. most owners go to Bell Engineering. Http://www.bellengineering.co.uk/freelander-2-products/
Owners from Australia have had their diffs modified and refurbished there, he's the best there is my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I finally found the search button... I am doing some digging now.

It seems most people install the Bell one indeed. As I am in the US and all the new tariffs and fees it seems impractical to import it now.

I see a lot of people replace the internal parts themselves... There are British kits on eBay with all the bearings and seals for around $200. https://www.ebay.com/itm/154536893962

I will try to take it apart. Hopefully I won't need fancy tools.

Thank you for the kind reply Mr. Dartman🎯.

I would look at all the hoses while you have the front off, yes your best to clean the areas off so you can see what is going on, drain the Haldex and add a new filter and refill, same with the rear diff, and the front PTU.

Haldex should be a GEN3

I'm sure you will answers for your question here.

The Bell Engineering is an exchange system so there shouldn’t be any large import costs just freight charges to the UK and back, the value is small for customs purposes but the paperwork for the US customs is the problem, stating it won't be detrimental to the environment and health for the most basic items is the problem my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

As I understand it, Bell Engineering no longer ship overseas anyway, so it’s not an option. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
