Removing The Rear Bumper And Wheel Arch Linings

About 8 months ago I posted this thread (https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic40357.html) of Alana and myself removing the front bumper and wheel arch linings from our Freelander 2 and giving them a good clean behind them. Well the weather got cold, we bought a Skoda Yeti and we never quite had the time to do the rear. That was until April when I finally dragged my backside out and just got on with it Laughing .

For anyone that might wonder what the purpose of this is. A lot of salt, grime and dirt builds up between the wheel arch liners in particular and the body of the Freelander 2. Even more-so if you take your Freelander 2 off road. Over time, if it's not cleared, it slowly starts to eat away at the metal work and before you know it you have holes where there shouldn't be holes Laughing .

Apart from 2 seized screws, this wasn't a bad job to do and almost pleasant now that the weather has warmed up Very Happy . Before anyone mentions it, yes I should've gone armed with products to fight the corrosion. The reason I didn't is that I wanted to get a gauge of how good/bad it was going to be in there Smile .

Now my question to all of you. What do I (and probably 95% of other similar aged Freelander 2's out there) need to buy to fight the corrosion? So far I've been told a wire brush attachment for a drill and some Hammerite. Suggestions please Very Happy . https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4

What I do:
1) Remove loose rust.
2) Apply a rust convertor to rusty area
3) Apply protective paint eg Hammerite
4) Apply Waxoyl Jules

Thanks for that Jules Thumbs Up . Any suggestions on a good rust converter. If I bought one blind, it would probably be the only one that everyone would say is rubbish and I would've been much better with product "X" instead Laughing . https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4
